Love it when Jen says “we made it by boat. OUR boat!” Great feeling. Great accomplishment. Really appreciate her comments on weather concerns and managing the same.

To Jen Elliot and Ollie. I love watching your journey. I live in the Kawartha Lake region, on Chemong Lake, that neighbours Buckhorn Lake, which you travelled. !❤❤❤❤

Fog…how eery and unnerving! So glad you both are so cautious and you cruised through it so successfully! Great video!

Woohoo, my favorite steakhouse is at 19:30 on the left inside the curve, The thing next to it is a filthy dive of a watering hole...

They are. They roll an entirely different perspective from we older people doing long distance cruising. Fresh, upbeat, not laggy.

We were just out on Lake Michigan yesterday and the winds turned. 0 - 1 footers heading North to Milwaukee and 3 footers going home. It was a bumpy ride, but I always remind my family that the boat can take more than we can and that we will be good. Just go slow; or in our case slow enough to keep on plain but not pound.

I am so glad you didn't skip Indiana. So many loopers get down to around Benton/New Buffalo and then just cut across to the Chicago river downtown skipping Indiana. Michigan City is one of my frequent haunts. My favorite place to eat is Galveston Steakhouse there by the harbor, and a place by the swingbridge. Though now I wonder if you will backtrack a bit and go via the Chicago River, or the shorter from Michigan City, Cal Sag Channel.

I totally stalk you guys. My first trawler was a marine trader. With a Lehman. Single screw. Full keel. And y’all are doing it. Total admiration and a bit of envy. Prepping the current boat for that trip. Fair winds.

Too bad I didn’t know you were coming to Chicago. My wife, our two Westies and I live in a highrise condo right off the Chicago River just after the lock from the lake and the river, on the river and the lake. But lo and behold, I’m watching this towards the end of October, 2023.

Sounds like a great location! You should see many Loopers come by each year! Cheers

Well done on your big travel day. I've enjoyed every video.

I would have been a bit nervous too, Jen. I was told that keeping your eye on the shore or something besides the water helps with avoiding seasickness. I am always glad when I see you both taking safety seriously. My mom and all my aunts and uncles are from Indiana. I hope you had fun there. Also, that butterfly shot was amazing!!! PS dont show this comment to my English teachers. What a mess😊

I'm not sure how your channel , came up only screen but I'm glad it did. I have owned a few boats and have never heard of the AGL. I am now watching your channel , and started to do research on how I can make it happen. Might be a few years until I can but it will happen. Have to convince my 2 teenage kids to go , if that happens then it will be sooner than later. Very much enjoy your channel for me being Canadian it is fun to hear and see you guys discover things up here. The best was seeing you in pants and jackets and saying you saw someone in a bikini. Thanks for the inspiration!! Stay safe

That is great 11 states. I was in the Coast Guard and I understand fog is not fun with out having radar. Wish safe travels for you. It looks like you are almost half way through the loop.

Cruising in the fog is something I would never do. Glad it worked out for you. On to Chicago!

Y'all should do a Patreon/subscriber push to raise enough money for AIS and the weather nav you mentioned. I know AIS is going to be huge offshore or around ports where they are many boats. Plus, your members could keep up with you if they get the program. If you don't do a fundraiser for the equipment, dip into your savings or get it somehow, because it seems to be a need on big water like Lake Michigan. I might be getting ahead of myself and you already have installed AIS, since this video. Good luck and keep going. Hopefully, one day y'all will upgrade to a larger Trawler that has stabilizers as well, then cruise up to Newfoundland and then over to Ireland, through Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Wait a minute, I'm either getting into my own dreams or at least getting way ahead of myself. Y'all keep having fun, and congrats (a Little early) on hitting 20k subscribers. That number seemed to be the point where a lot of channels bump up and grow into a much bigger channel, if you keep working it hard. Your content is excellent.

Some days have a tough outlook, and end of kinda better than expected. Onwards toward Chicago. 👏👏
@johnschieffelin3226 Жыл бұрын
Wow, I didn't realize the time difference between the actual cruising and the release of the videos was so long. I assume this has been released long after you have completed the Great Loop. The sea state of this leg looked quite benign -- I barely saw any rock and roll -- but I'm sure it was more rolly than it looked on the video.

Not every day is sunshine and bathing suits. See the lakes and the seas in their different moods. That's how you get to be real sailors!
