I have a head canon on why he was in the collider. Seeing as he was trying to take a component out, I think he was trying to deactivate the collider before it could blow up by removing the power source. But when Miles destroyed the collider, he was caught in the explosion and merged with the source Venom Style.

1:58 In the movie, when he said "You created me", Jeff said, "Spiderman, why did you create that guy?" That scene passed very fast, but if you notice, it's hilarious. It's like the scene in Peter Parker Spiderman movie when he becomes Spiderman to deliver pizza and some random dude was like, "Woah! He stole that guy's pizza."
