I share your sentiment and am thankful the book helped me realize that I have no right to sit in judgment of anyone who lives a peaceful life, seeking happiness, self-realization and inner freedom. In the end, I found that I had developed a thoroughly vetted admiration for the man, connecting with the truths revealed to him at the end of his life. I celebrate Chris’s life with all of you and thank him for letting us share in the ups and downs that comprised his short, yet fascinating journey on this rock that is drifting through space. No more influenced by Chris’s choices than it is by the random tumbling of rocks on a planet, in a distant galaxy. Yet, the two, Chris and the Earth, are indefinitely linked, their stories intertwined, with one no more important or miraculous than the other. The earth and its inhabitants occupying a multitude of differing stages that pepper each life forms journey. The tangible ripples of our planet, bending and warping space-time, while the other, Chris, also created waves that fanned out, all be it smaller in size and scope, but no less important. As the ripples advance, with some combining for a net positive effect, while others cancel each other out. With regard to those lives found in the path of the nullified waves, Chris’s life makes little, if any impact on their trajectory, focus and purpose. However, for the others that experienced waves that merged to increase in strength and magnitude, his life resonates strongly and shifts tiered priority lists we had previously established. Moments of his life work to mold our characters in a fashion that has mankind’s existing as one with nature, a part of it rather as an external life force separate from the implications felt when it changes. The life of this young man serves to remind us that there is no one right way for humans to experience the wonders of life and the varied relationships that will comprise it. That it is possible to all a purely subjective, experience while simultaneously having another one that is objective and shared with all the other life forms that exist on Earth with us. At least that’s what I believe, which means I also could be mistaken. We will see. Stay golden, y’all.

Good review. I have yet to read the book but own the DVD and have seen the movie many times. Have also done a fair amount of digging around the internet trying to research Chris life. IIRC, there is a fair amount of controversy regarding Chris, the book, etc.
