Fort Jefferson was actually built over the course of 30 years beginning in 1846. It was originally supposed to be a fort but was also used as a prison and harbor for warships during the Civil War.

Ouch!!!! I hooked myself with a sabiki rig in the back. I was bending the hook trying to get it through my skin. I iced it shoved it through and went back to 🎣. Love the show. Keep up the great work y'all

How far in front of the waypoint do you want to be before you drop anchor?

+Caden Davis it depends on the current, depth, wind, ect. but always remember its not hard to let out of few more feet of line and you want to make sure u let out enough line for the anchor to get really caught. So if you are in 100 feet of water id let out at least 250 feet of line just to make sure the anchor is caught. Its a huge pain in the ass to be on the fish for a few seconds then have the boat move

+Grimes Clark I believe it is one foot of depth 7 foot of anchor line so if you are in 100 feet effectively you need 700 feet of anchor line. And correct me if I am wrong but I believe that's Coast Guard regulation

+Richard Baker Ive always heard put out 3 feet for every foot of water that you are in. 7:1 would be very secure haha but if you are in 200 feet of water its hard to have 1400 feet of line on the boat and ALOT to pull up but thats just personal preference and i dont have too many problems with the anchor coming undone with the 3:1

+Richard Baker but if you were in less then 50-60 feet the more the better! Especially if you were anchoring up and everyone was leaving the boat to swim or hang out on the beach. It be really bad if the anchor got loose and no one was on the boat LOL

Grimes Clark with that much line you would absolutely need an anchor windlass not to mention people don't normally anchor in 200 feet of water. More or less I think it's just a safety issue

+Danthelaxer A windlass is nice but it is not as fast as pulling it with the ball...takes alot more effort though
