Dear Dr. Gupta, In the US, after DDS, (or in my case BDS from India), you may do specialty training, conduct research, write a thesis, get a master's degree (MS), or conduct a more intense research project over several years, write a dissertation, and get a Ph.D. Some doctors will do specialty training but will not pursue the M.S. or Ph. D.
