INTRIGUE 1947 American film noir crime film directed by Edwin L. Marin and starring George Raft, June Havoc, and Helena Carter. Tom Tully, Marvin Miller, and Dan Seymour. Brad Dunham (George Raft) along with three other flyers during World War II were court-martialed accused of black market activity. The unjust shame has taken its toll, and Brad's three friends have died, including one by suicide. Journalist Marc Andrews (Tom Tully and one of the dead pilot's sisters (Helena Carter) are seeking to find the truth. Intrigue was intended to be the first of a number of films Raft made, with producer Sam Bischoff, for his own production company, Star Films. It was one of several movies Raft made with Marin.

So nice to see such a swell movie. I was alive in 47, but to young to see this film and the wonderful actors perform. I can see now what swell actors they were and the wonderful time that it was. So happy I stopped by.

These films which weave history in with the fiction are not only entertaining, but useful in reminding us of our history - and can prod us, hopefully, to keep these things from happening today. At least the hopeful optimist in me likes to think so. Thanks for sharing this excellent film.

That's a great opening still of George...thanks for this upload! Will make it my Saturday movie night! He aged so well.. One wonders if Valentino would have aged as well.. Not sure he would have...or could have considering he had syphilis from age 15 and had to take mercury injections to stave off recurrences as he never had the arsenic-based cure available at the time (possibly damaging to his eyes, one already damaged from the disease.) Raft was a real survivor and weathered his stormy life with a lot of resilience.

@@hollywood-thegoldenage5310 Hi, I liked it but I felt it was almost 2 movies...the first part, very tight, then came the "kids and the romance." The development of any believable romance between the characters was not strong. And at the end, we see Raft and the cops and then suddenly he's out with the "girlfriend" running to him. It happened so fast I actually rewound it to make sure I hadn't missed anything! I think this was the first project out of Raft's own production company (Star).

Bogart was a fantastic screen presence, much better than Raft. Much as I've enjoyed some of Raft's movies he generally has as much life as a plank of wood. Bogart though, Treasure of the Sierra Madre anyone? The Maltese Falcon? The Big Sleep? The African Queen, etc etc.

Good movie. Good cast. Raft always delivers. June Havoc teethed on show biz but didn't do as well in film as she did on the stage. Marvin Miller seems to always play a rat of some kind in movies but his talents go far beyond this stereotype. Thank you Golden Age

I don't think he had anyone to blame but himself, he made some poor choices in his career, turned down roles in good films such as Maltese Falcon. Both James Cagney & Humphrey Bogart had a better screen presence.
