Wouldn't those be arpeggios? I have always known chord scales as a scale played with the chords in that key, so C major chord scale would be builtwith the following chords: C Dm Em F G Am Bdim C.

A teacher, my kingdom for a teacher!! I'd love a banjo teacher locally, well I'd love a banjo player locally, lol, someone to jam with.... Couldn't find another player within a hundred miles, sad..... Sadly I gave up a couple of years ago due to frustration, couldn't even bang out a 2 chord tune that was recognisable, lol, but still love banjo music. Cheers from downunder.

Go on Banjo Hangout. They have a list of banjo teachers by locality, or banjo players looking for people to pick with by locality. Go onto facebook nd see if there is a local old time music jam or a state banjo or old time or fiddle group. If you cannot find that, look for bluegrassers who will know the old time banjoists. Even though old time banjoists seemed scare to me when I first started out 20 years ago living in miami, once someone saw the idiotic stuff I did that I thought was old time banjo, one of the best teachers ever came up to me and invited me to come to a barbecue at his home, and sat me and a couple other invitees down to start teaching us, gave me a video and gave me help on a better banjo, Banjoist tend to want to help. Thank you for your reply @@writerrad. We're in a rural area my friend, quite a few guitar players, but couldn't find any pickers at all. Australia isn't really known of banjo players, did the FB search and shoutout years ago. Was practicing religiously, but all that came out was squeals of pain and dudded chords, the dogs howled and the missus would leave. If I could find a BG picker I'd go that way to get the basics like timing etc down pat, then concentrate on OT later. Sometimes I think I'm tone deaf, lol.

@@PilotMcbride Sorry didnt know you were in the land of OZ. Go on FB there are a number of australians who participate in the Old Time Banjo FB group, They might be able to find someone or find someone to go on Skype or Zoom with now that we are practicing social distancing, or even though they are distant, can show you stuff that way. I do this with a friend who lives 30 miles away long before the virus using Skype but there is other stuff like zoom too

Thanks Tony Thomas yeah, I joined to OTB group when it first kicked away, but the Aussie pickers were all over the place and none within 100 miles of us. Nowadays I’m not a fan of FB, the disgusting things that keep popping up prompted me to simply not use the platform again, except when the missus gets on my case. Tying in with this is that we currently have 8 in our small house with things going on in all directions, so any spare time I have is spent sleeping, lol, that’s the only spare time I have. Added to that, I’m. To what you’d call “fit”, I’m carrying a few major injuries from a misspent working life, and the CTS in both hands was causing me trouble. I’d have a shot at any style if we had someone locally or not far off albeit slowly, but the 4 kids keep me busy most of the day, as their mother is awaiting an operation (she’s pretty crook) and father is working. I reckon I need someone in front of me with a wheel spanner or shifter to smack me between the eyes when I screwup. I tried learn guitar firstly as a kid then again about 20 years ago with instructors, well, they didn’t end well, the lessons or the instructors, lol. They couldn’t handle me being left handed or musically inept, flipped one bloke right out, lol. I thought it was great, mirroring. So, when we lose our current guests, no idea when, I’ll give it another shot. Oh, and being in a rural area, our internet connection is atrocious. Thanks for you time Tony, really appreciate it.
