oof i hope you follow up with 1:1 functions soon they're kinda important for domain and range

Can someone please explain to me how restricting the domain of x to (x >= 0) makes the green line go away? If I take x=4 (which is > 0, so satisfies the restriction), then root 4 is still both +2 and -2. Restricting the domain doesn't change that. Surely we should restrict the image set to >= 0, in other words ignore any negative outputs of inverse of f(x)?

I think we're restricting both the domain and the range. The domain can't be negative because you can't get the square root of negative numbers across the real number system and the range can't be negative because the square root function only gives positive outputs.

It's really not, this is probably just regular maths - not HSC Extension maths or VCE Specialist Maths or even.... IB Higher Level Mathematics/Further Mathematics(Borderline 1st year/2nd year Uni Maths at Harvard/Oxford Level)(I know IB is international, but most private schools have it in Melbourne)
