I learned basic steps before lockdown, at that time it seemed difficult. But after watching this video it seems easy, specially 'chakkar'. Your teaching is really very good!!!

I am from the place where kathak originated. It's a irony that I don't know anything about it 😀. So finally decided to learn Basics of Kathak. Love ❤ you from India 🇮🇳. 🙏👍
@ipshita51472 жыл бұрын
Slight correction: Kathak didn't originate as a folk dance rather it originated in the Hindu temples as the art of storytelling, from where it reached into the courts of Mughal emperors.

What to wear while practicing at home..
@Khwaab3 жыл бұрын
You can wear anything comfortable and that won´t "drag" below the feet (cause you might trip on it when doing the spins). Kathak students usually wear a simple salwaar-kameez or even tights/T-shirt. It´s important to have bare feet though! In all classical Indian dance forms, because it´s about respecting the ground that we step on. As for the floor, try to practise where there isn´t a carpet...so that you can hear how well you tap.

Lol it's an Islamic nation
@Khwaab3 жыл бұрын
What a sad comment coming from a Kathak dancer (who should usually be artistic and free of such prejudice). A good idea would be to implement Sanskrit yourself first as your people use English to communicate with each other. And leave Pakistan to its own fate and journey. Pakistan is a nation based on intense need for independence and a system based on the ethics of monotheism (where all human-beings are equal in value and can reach God). We want to live FREELY and not under the caste system that divides human-beings into awful classification, hence the glorious gift that is Pakistan! Alhamdulillah ya Rabb-al-aalaameen! It had to search for freedom EXACTLY BECAUSE OF SUCH VITRIOL AND DEEP INACCEPTANCE of their unique heritage. People like you prove to me how right my ancestors were to fight for independence. Some individuals like you are still so salty about it. Allah bachaae aap jaise kamzarf, tang- nazar aur zehreeli sooch ke maalik se. Really such a sad comment! The video uploader obviously had no qualms, as a Pakistani, to celebrate this beautiful classical INDIAN dance form based on Sanskrit and Mughal culture, but you had to come here and spread your toxicity (thus revealing SO MUCH more about yourself rather than Pakistan). What is freedom according to you? Is it about harbouring such superior thoughts about oneself that we fail to acknowledge and celebrate others? Is it about thinking that YOUR culture and your language is somehow better than others? Kathak teaches grace, humility, respect and openmindedness apart from pure dance. The way you spoke, I would never have thought that you were learning such an art form. The one thing one has to leave at the door when learning Kathak is ego and arrogance. Jitna dil saaf hoga, utna aap ki art (funn, kala) mein asr aur khoobsoorti hogi. As for me..it´d never occur to me to try and deny Indians of their heritage. Allah swt says in the Quraan "I have divided you into nations and tribes, so that you may know one another (and do good to each other). Verily, the noblest among you in the sight of God, is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, Allah is all-knowing, all aware." (Quraan 49:13). So when Allah has blessed His creation with diversity, who are we to deny each other being different? It´s arrogant, unfair and frankly low to be so close-minded that we cannot digest other people/nations possessing talent or uniqueness. One of the things Kathak taught me is how beautiful something becomes when 2 cultures work together and affect each other. This Indian dance form is steeped deep in Sanskrit culture, later adopting the movements, the tehzeeb, the clothes and even the musical heritage of Mughlia culture (like Ghazal, Thumri and Kalaam). I would never deny that it´s a beautiful artform from India and very unique to its heritage. May Allah bless you to self-search and ponder how you might come across to the very people you so arrogantly claim need "freedom". Pehle apne aap ki sooch ko tang-nazri aur dushmani se aazaad karen sister. Aadaab! Sincerely, a deeply religious Kathak-novice who loves many Indian cultural things, but not the "Wanna be gora"- and sprititually sick Bollywood industry that has single-handedly tarnished India´s rich heritage.
