Brilliant lesson Georgia. Will you be doing any more lessons on counting other specific Rhythm's ? I'm trying to navigate multiple Rhythm rests on Jazz lead-sheets, it gets crazy. I like to way you break things down. You are a SUPER-Communicator.

Thank you so much for the idea. You are right - jazz rhythms and the rests in there get VERY complicated. There have been times when I've taken a photo of a single measure, enlarged it to a full size sheet of paper and proceeded to mark each beat then break it down one beat at a time. So much of jazz is passed down by ear, that when we see the complexity of the rhythms that the musicians are actually playing it is NUTS! The rests work just like the notes, but they definitely have a different look to them. If you can, find a recording and listen to the recording while you watch the lead sheet so you can connect the sounds to the visual of the sheet. Engaging your ear is gold!

Dear Georgia. I do play some guitar but I would also like to learn at least the basics of playing piano, including the theoretical parts. Your lessons are extremely helpful to me in that respect and I really appreciate your sympathetic, calm teaching style. I wish you all the best ☺
