I was introduced to this by, of all things, Mass Effect Andromeda. Of course I’m talking about the only Andromeda natives you befriend in that game; the Angara. The Angara are a similarly common species in their galaxy, with multiple planets having Angara natives that weren’t originally colonists at all. The idea that we might lift off from earth one day and find another species of humans living just next door to us, astrologically… it would either break us as a species and lead to our destruction, or unite us as one.

08:00 "The bridge as a symbolism of the connection between people". All the bank notes in the European Union have bridges on them. I would like to think that it was inspired by LeGuin, but I’m guessing someone came up with it independently.

Le Guin, while an originator of many amazing things through her work, was hardly the first person to use a bridge as an analogy for connection-that metaphor would long pre-date her birth.

Very helpful thank you. Just starting my journey. I really like how she's exploring such deep themes with entertaining writing.
