Welcome everyone! This is the third episode in a series based in sunny Aiken South Carolina during the winter. Got a spooky horse? More specifically one that has never seen water, or in general think that all bodies of water contain sharks and other aquatic monsters? If so, tune in to this special episode where we demonstrate how to introduce a new horse that has never seen water to the water complex. Also we demonstrate how to get a water spooked horse more comfortable in this environment. Lastly we feature a new segment called "Schrammo Shout Out" as well as an "Evention Tip of the Day".

The first time I put my horse through water, he wasn't having any of it lol. My trainer decided to have me get him in the creek as an ending exercise to my lesson. It took 30 minutes to get him in there. My trainer told me to do the exact same thing as they did here, but Carino was afraid of it. It took us half an hour, but when he got in, I let him check it out. After, I had him walk back and fourth into the water a few times and finished the session by letting him play a bit. Six years later never had another problem getting him in water lol.

I was riding double with my friend once, and we usually let her horse splash in the water for a few min sometimes, but this one time we were riding on her horse together and for the first time this horse has ever done this, she rolled in a foot deep puddle of water and mud mix, and I know what your thinking "all horses roll" but this horse has never done it with a saddle and rider on 😂

I ride my friends horse from time and time and I've been working him up to certain things as he's very spooky. But he's extremely hard to stop after a gallop and doesn't like to listen a lot. So something to help with stopping hard pulling horses would be awesome!

Hidden Horse Haven could use a shout out. :) We do rescues, retraining, consignment and sales! We currently have a Paso Fino who was beat in the head as a young horse by his "trainer" and only 2yrs now after we got him as a terrified horse that would tuck himself to the back of his stall and then try to attack if you got close, we can go into his pasture, handle him, love on him and ride him, all thanks to the patience of Lisa. The website is HiddenHorseHaven Com. Love these videos! Thanks!

which ever the horse is most comfortable doing. some horses with stretch down and smell, snort at or drink the water, while others may "strike" or splash themselves with the water as a way of playing and building confidence. either way is fine just make sure that they dont decide to lay down with you lol :) hope this helped

any tips for a puddle? when i was younger before i could even canter the pony i was riding wouldn't go through a puddle in a field. she went to the side and jumped over a really small part. to prevent this from happening in the future on any horse/pony i am riding what should i do? if it's a puddle the horse/pony will most likely try and jump it knowing they can

thanks its helped a lot , but my horse is frightened with the liverpool, but not the water in the cross, but why?? +evention tv
@laug1576
@laug1576 8 жыл бұрын
While the cross water is only the water itself, the liverpool is more of a square shape thingy and small amount of water. The shape is different. ( It's also an eventing jumping thing, it's not just a loose liquid like the water on cross country trails, that affects too) You should watch their video on how to get your horse through a liver pool. The water is different, without a container, and the liverpool is more of a solid than water so the technique will be different, check the video out, it shows the technique.

Just... give it time. Find a puddle and start off next to your horse if he/she's really scared you might need rubber boots if you know what I mean ;) But you want to be really careful if you go first into that water. Try to find clear water so your horse can see the ground and it knows there are no monsters of any kind in there. Because otherwise your horse will see the spot where you are standing as 'safe' and you risk finding yourself under your horse... If you found that also take a long rope and your patience along with you 'cause you'll need it... At the puddle let your horse 'investigate' until you notice it's not really interested or scared anymore (could take a while) if it's playing with the water or anything be happy and reward your horse. If the puddle is big you gotta go through it, if the puddle is too small your horse will just walk around it. When you go into it don't turn your back to your horse 'cause it could jump into the water right on top of you :s Just go a few steps into it. Call your horse, be patient, wait, give the rope a little pull yo indicate what you want, you'll see it worked great on like 6 horses with me. The moment your horse goes into the water reward him and go home you don't want to push him or he'll see the water as a stressfactor or something just go with the flow :) no really I'm gonna quit here it's kinda long hope I could help ya

Goodness. This is the hard way. Best to start from the ground with a tarp. Realize is about trust. It's not about the tarp or water or trailer or what ever you are trying to get the horse to do. Give them patience and understanding and TIME to make it their own idea - on the ground first. Authentic, conscious natural horsemanship methods work so much better, faster and last a life time for the horse.

they're actually not supposed to be that far down as it pushes your foot forward and puts you in a chair seat which is way worse. Best to keep your heels under you and let the weight do the work and you'll have a nice bend in heels which is down enough
