Look at 8:19, no rear seatbelts. They were an optional extra in 1983.
@simonramsay60805 жыл бұрын
I didn't think they'd even be an option then! I'm sure the law for wearing rear seat belts only came in in 1994.
@krashd5 жыл бұрын
Well they wouldn't be an option after the law, they would be mandatory.

My grandpa owned a fiesta popular 950. The most basic version. It was loud, slow and uncomfortable. But very reliable. Netherttheless we suggested that when he sold it he treated himself to a bit more luxury especially as they often did long trips visiting family. Maybe a fiesta ghia 5 speed or an escort since Ford treated him well. A few years later he announced they had got a new car. And what was it. Something more luxurious? Nope. A fiat panda 750cc! The loudest car ever and a right pig to get started in the winter too. They loved both cars.

The Popular was the big seller. You could always recognise the exhaust sound of a Fiesta.

Aye, I was thinking that, the car at the beginning of the video looks like it rolled off the DeLorean line in Belfast! When they did the close up of the front and rear lights I was thinking "Those lights were fitted by a blind plumber I'm guessing..."

These look better than the ones we had in the states. We used to get them as rental cars when I was in the Navy. That's what you got if you got the economy car. They were fine unless you had big inclines. Going up those steep hills in Hawaii and California it sounded like a lawnmower and the RPMs were near red line.

Theres a 1.1 X reg fiesta for sale near me for £3500. I drove past it yesterday. Reminded me of my very first ever car, a 1.1 X reg Fiesta, 4 speed.
@rimmerblues15863 жыл бұрын
I had a B-Reg silver 1.1L looked just like the one 11:40mins in. That silver paint (Strato Silver?) was actually lovely and quite thick compared to the others paints it seemed (and heavier?) but the bugger still rusted like an iron nail in the sea - the sills had to be welded-up to pass the MOT three times and then the centering spring for the gear-stick failed which meant only i knew how to drive it. Though that car carried a lot and did a lot, it was very capable and managed 100mph downhill but understeered like a bar of soap. Sold it for £100 and got an E-reg black MK2 1.4S for £400 quid in 2003. Didn't last long :-D
