I agree, most PR firms use an early 2000s business model developed during and for a much more robust economy that is filled with crazy amounts of waste, huge studios, filled with way to many employees who insist the answer is to buy more astronomically priced gear. The PR folks agree and because their going to pass all the costs on the client anyways. A practice which they absolutely don't see anything wrong with. Cause they have been charging way to much for, way to little for decade. Except they missed the memo, that These Days Money Doesn't Buy Qualify Content! So they don't have to charge a shit ton of money for stuff that's cut rate, and out of date. Content that ends up delivering Zero ROI(many times even turning off potential customers). Resulting in the client going with someone else with their next ad budget. The bogus PR dudes begin bleeding cash, so they think their only option is to charge even higher rates in order to keep their lights on and the wife happy. This leads to a quick death whole ship ends up sinking. Time to wake up! Intelligent people who have a passion for what they do, are creating great stuff using gear that is often older than they are and getting feedback directly from their core consumers. Not some analytics from some Customer Prediction Focus group or some Lame panel.
