Welcome to the next step in the evolution of motion picture film: KODAK VISION3 500T Color Negative Film 5219/7219. The first in a new family of films, VISION3 500T Film gives you more control and flexibility at every phase of the filmmaking process-from capture through post, in both digital and traditional workflows. VISION3 500T Film retains the overall look and image structure you've come to love in KODAK VISION2 Films-then adds a host of improvements. Our proprietary advanced Dye Layering Technology (DLT) gives you noticeably reduced grain in shadows, so you can push the boundaries of exposure further and still get excellent results. And when scanning low-light scenes, VISION3 500T Film yields higher signal-to-noise ratios for unprecedented image quality. What's more, VISION3 500T Film's extended highlight latitude gives you greater flexibility when lighting extreme situations, and lets you pull even more detail out of highlights. Whether you're behind the camera or in the postproduction suite, you can bring your project to life as never before. KODAK VISION3 500T Color Negative Film. Your vision is continually evolving. Ours is, too.

I believe that Digital is superior at this point in most regards, and even the ones it is not such as DR, that can be fixed and outdone using digital blending techniques, in saying this being superior is not the be all and end all of life, film cameras are really fun to shoot, and if it gets people out in the real world shooting, instead of just on the internet all day researching the next new technology then this is a good thing. Another thing about film is that each film stock has its own very unique characteristics, and once you load one up thats it you are stuck with it, and it will change the way you shoot that day, there have been many studies done on creative limitations, and the paralysis of choice, that have found writers block etc, is cause from too many ideas, and the need to condense them. If i put a roll of tri-x in on a cold rainy day, and make the choice to push it to 800-1600, then i have to take dark gritty moody shots, so i just get in the zone, and it is suprising how much it frees the mind, even if it is all psychological it doesnt matter, the more you learn about the Velvia 50's, Portras, the Ektars, the Cinestills, the Aerochromes, etc and what they can and cant do, the more you find ways to apply them to your own creative visions.

The was a great companion. Thx. The Vision 3 is very subtly better whilst keeping many of the great characteristics of vision 2. That said, I sorta like the less saturated look! Could always adjust in the grade I guess. Would love to see some select older vintage stocks brought back..!

***** Too many times "movie makers" over use CGI instead of actually working character development and a good story. Besides, traditional methods of special effects hold up better over time. Star Wars Episode 1 looks like utter filth now. CGI ages poorly.

While this is cool... It is absolutely pointless to see this on youtube. The h264 compression is going truncate any sort of the minute details that are being covered. Please provide a high quality DNxHD or ProRes version that we could download. I would love to see this video in a less compressed format.

@Biosynchro
@Biosynchro 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. The camera is certainly a 35mm unit, most likely an ARRI 435. The '5' in 5219 refers to the gauge, which can be either 65mm or 35mm. The camera is obviously not a 65mm unit, so you can conclude without doubt that this was all 35mm. :-)

how high is the estimated resolution of this product? i hear rumours its higher than 4k. cant find it on the web... but i see why tarantino & co choose for film and not digital. these colours are really warm and i'm only watching at 480p! 200 dollar for the longest reel, expensive hobby :)
@SMGJohn
@SMGJohn 9 жыл бұрын
35mm can be scaled to 8k in digital resolution if you use low noise and shot in good light conditions you should be able to cramp out 8k, 70mm is a bit trickier because there really are lacking in scanning technology to make use of that massive format, but as far as we done its got to 32k, but the process of editing and using it is massive pain and no computer is powerful enough to edit 32k in real time.
@timtheenchanter9583

thank you john for this clear answer, its like vistavision a bit. endless resolution it seams but maybe you know this answer: how high is the resolution of a human eye? it seams 32k is a border for man and machine :)

What is the camera used for this? lens?
@Biosynchro
@Biosynchro 5 жыл бұрын
The camera looks like an ARRI 435. The magazine is usually mounted at 45 degrees on that camera, and the 300E magazines are either specifically for the 435, or compatible with it. Not sure which variant. Not sure about the lenses but they could very well be Zeiss Master Primes, based on the style of the numbering on the lens barrel.

hi, i have a curious question. how does the negative film becomes a slide film so it can be projected in a cinema?
@blu0065
@blu0065 4 жыл бұрын
Slide film is usually different than projection film. Slide film is usually a "reversal" film which is fine for viewing immediately after processing. On the other hand, a positive film print is created from the negative on a print stock and involves projection of the negative onto the print stock and processing of that print.

@thomaslesain4920
@thomaslesain4920 6 жыл бұрын
It's called Cinestill 800T (they label it as 800 ISO as it pushes quite although I do prefer it shot at 500). The problem is that the remjet is removed (and it thus has no anti-halation layer) and it's cross-processed in C41 which consequently induces color shifts. The best solution is to buy Kodak Vision3 500T as bulk, cut it and respool it for 35mm, then have it developed in ECN-2 (many pro labs do it).
@polymetric2614
@polymetric2614 4 жыл бұрын
@@thomaslesain4920 I've found numerous sources for still rolled Vision3, but I can't find any labs that process ECN-2 for small batches of still rolls. Do you have any recommendations?
@benjaminvleugels5609
@benjaminvleugels5609 3 жыл бұрын
@@polymetric2614 silbersalz35 you do have to buy 4 rolls of 36 exposures at once it's like 50 euros tho and 60 I've you want your negatives back but you do get really good tiff scans they are extremely flat so they are perfect for editing they also do discounts quite a lot so it will probably be a little cheaper
