yea all for an extra price of $200 and of course lets not forget that its an extra hundred dollars if you actually want to play the module and on top of all that you could buy all 6 Volca's second hand for $600 or the 3 Roland boutiques second hand for 700 so lets be honest Roland's awesome but I can't afford to own all of them so I give this round to Korg
@_EightySix7 жыл бұрын
I was semi joking with my comment, for one. Two, I can afford the Boutiques but I don't think that's what makes them better. I've watched tons of reviews on them both. I like the Volcas and I love that they're analog. They're just slightly lower quality and my personal preference in sound would be with the Boutiques. But this is all just another opinion. Oh and about paying the boutiques, I just plug them into my midi keyboard, that little boutique keyboard is shit. By the way the jx03 and ju06 are only 200 bucks now..

Congratulation Tatsuya, look like yet another great intro synth product! I have just created a VST for the Volca Keys to use in Cubase 8.5 Pro and the midi parameters work great. Why not use it also in the professional arena and lay some tracks down in your DAW? Only improvement I would like to see in the future releases of the volcas is more power out. Hope the kick also has the kick coming out of the headphone jacks (;

Can Tats work on a new Electribe? I don't think he was involved with the current one... which is why he should have free reign over over a new one!
@MarctheDarc8 жыл бұрын
So it can have a built in speaker, headphone output only, and no PSU included? No thank you! It's bad enough what they did to the MicroKorg with the S version. No reason for them to ruin more of their digital line.
@Zinfidel18 жыл бұрын
Marc the Darc I would much rather have a new Electribe under the watchful eye of Tats instead of the unfinished box we have now. There is no denying what the Volcas have achieved by introducing affordable analog to the masses and their success gave Tats the leverage to make the Minilogue. And everyone and their granny has a Microkorg, I can totally see why they would re-introduce a new one into the market. the battery supply + speakers combo isn't the most far out idea in the market.
@MarctheDarc8 жыл бұрын
If he had a watchful eye worth a damn, there wouldn't be built in speakers all over the place. Indeed there's no denying what the Volcas have achieved, but when it would be so simple to both improve them and save production cost at the same time, I think it's time to boot some designers. Korg should've been boycut untill they stopped their built in speaker, low quality nonsense. Instead the world is awash with fanboys, and other companies ruining good technology trying to copy the worst Korg has ever done. And to get our concepts straight, it's not a "new" MicroKorg, the battery power isn't new. They added a built in speaker i.e. made it worse, and doubled the preset amount, that's it. A new MicroKorg would be what they SHOULD have done instead of ruining their existing product: Take the XMT engine from the KingKorg, shove it in the box and interface-concept from the Minilogue, add XLR-gooseneck mic like on MicroKorg XL for vocoder-goodness, smack a reasonable price on it = instant hit of epic proportions!
@ogasi17988 жыл бұрын
Marc the Darc his job is analogue engineer, not directly associated with things such as Electrabel / microkorg I would bet.
@MarctheDarc8 жыл бұрын
jamie munro I think you're right, but then it wasn't my idea that he should be put in charge of the Electribes, as was the OPs intent. I was arguing against that idea. He probably can do digital circuitry too, but given the market, there's no doubt they got him hard at work doing analogue stuff.

Im still trying to get a sense on how versatile it would be as a pure kick generator. Can it do 808, 909 and anything in between? I get it can do basslines and effects .. that's a great bonus

but can it do 2112 by Canadian Prog legens Rush?
@ge0metr1xx6 жыл бұрын
it can do clean plucks, and crazy high dollar sounding modular style soundscapes too... its very versatile
@volt7cooltangs7012 жыл бұрын
No, not really. It can get very close. Has its own sound. Top unit. Can make some great perc sounds including bass drums. The motion sequencing is very useful too. What no one mentions is that when you save a pattern into one of the 16 memory locations It’s also saves all the voice data, i.e. turn off settings within that memory. So that means you can create and save 16 different bass drums ( or other sounds) irrespective of whether you use the sequencer or not.

Minikorg 700s filter, 3 oscillators with 3 different sequences, different length even, so you can do weird polymetric stuff. Those are the main selling points to me, but there are plenty other differences I believe

Yeah I mostly use it for bass. Does some real nice lead sounds too when you run it through some fuzz. I rarely use it for kicks unless I want a real low sub kick. But even then it is usually mixed in with a more pronounced kick sound from the Beats.

You see, many people dismiss a synth unit - ESPECIALLY an analogue one, that is aimed squarely at making a specific sound "area" and not not much else... Frankly, considering the potential possibilities of that approach. I think dismissing it, is utter folly.

I don't really see anything here that you can't already do with an MS20 mini. Cool little box though.
@City2x8 жыл бұрын
Ronnie Perez you can't motion sequence with the ms20mini
@SiliconBassist8 жыл бұрын
Ronnie Perez +TijucaWeirdo When combined with faster envelope generators from a modular and some utility modules (like an English Tear, mults, and a mixer module), the MS-20 is capable of a wide variety of great percussion sounds. I've been using the Mini for most of my electronic drum sounds lately. For me, the Volca Kick could provide a quick way to get MS-20 filter kick drum sounds and other sounds that don't require VCOs, a HPF, noise, or XOR/ring mod. This would free up the MS-20 Mini for more complex sounds and would be a big time saver. The nice onboard sequencer would also free up another sequencer to use with the MS, saving even more time. So, you can keep sculpting that perfect hi-hat sound and sequence while working on a kick drum part. Then sync 'em up and enjoy the MS-20 drum goodness! Of course the additional features add even more to what would have already been a very useful tool.
@ronnieaux52908 жыл бұрын
SiliconBassist That's a great point, it can be used as a companion to an MS-20 mini and synced up to make deeper more complex sounds. :)
