I know a little secret you may not be aware of... the pros that shot "zebra" strings... were not all shooting zebra strings.... they were using aftermarket strings with zebra heat shrink.... so they still look to be zebra to anyone looking at the bow.... but they are not zebra. The best shooters in the world want a much better string than zebra.... trust me on that. For hunting, they work... The zebra string that came on my TRX was the worst string I have ever had to deal with. PSE factory strings were far superior... so was elite... When comparing strings by the likes of threadz, gas, Joeys... there is no comparison. They blow zebra strings away... and mathews KNEW that which is why they SAID it in this video that they wanted better strings... and these new strings look to be on par with the best strings out there... maybe even superior, time will tell.

Finally! After years of complaining about stock Mathews strings they listened! Hopefully they line up with Gas/Rogue bowstrings. I always had issues with zebra. Glad to see this happen.

Yup...When I bought my VXR, I told my shop that makes their own strings, take off the Zebra's and put their own strings on as soon as the bow comes in...I didn't even want to deal with those strings...

Y’all realize all the staff shooters are shooting those zebra strings? Billions of earning and podiums… with the right knowledge there’s zero issues with them. Hints why u see them on every podium the past 20 years.

@@jwild5360 I’m a bowtech that works at a mathews dealer, we do see a fair amount of issues with them. Stretch, creep, peep rotation, inconsistency with temp swings. Most of the pros have to shoot them because of contract clauses. If they had the choice I’m sure they would put a higher quality string on their bows.

Plus a grand for the new stabilizer setup. I’m a big Mathews supporter. Love the company. But I hope these prices hurt their sales. And forces them to lower their prices to fair and honest pricing. Strings should be fifty bucks. And stabilizers shouldn’t cost as much as your bow.

Mathews Archery how long do the new strings take to settle? I just purchased a new Lift and the shop recommended around 300-400 shots to go back and re check everything. I have around 200 though it now and am getting a slight nock left tear. My broadheads are hitting like 3/4” right consistently. I was just hoping that 200 shots or a little more was enough to make adjustments since hunting season is 3 weeks away.

Hey Ed, the strings should not stretch but we would say within 100 shots everything should be settled and any adjustment that needs to be made can be done at that time.

Well it’s about time Matthews did something about those lame zebra strings that I always throw in the garbage immediately after buying one of their bows. Hopefully they line up with the Rogue strings I’m running on all my Mathews bows the last few years.

I never use Mathew’s strings, every Mathew’s bows I have bought I put winners choice sting and cable on, FIRST THING!! Zebra strings are GARBAGE
