Introducing R Markdown Notebooks

J.J. Allaire demonstrates R Markdown notebooks, a method of literate programming that allows for direct interaction with R while producing a reproducible document with publication-quality output. Notebooks are R Markdown documents with chunks that can be executed independently and interactively, with output visible immediately beneath the input.

This looks absolutely awesome! I was waiting for something like this a long time. As a Python user I really missed Jupyter Notebooks in R. There is however one thing which puzzles me a bit: What about the IRKernel for Jupyter (github.com/IRkernel/IRkernel)? Is there no way to interact with the Jupyter framework as you have a native notebook version? I considered R in jupyternotebooks as a great chance to bring Python and R closer together.

R can be run in Jupyter Notebooks since a while. The notebook-Structure is not particular to a language a.f.a.i.k.

I read this in 2018 November ... but it is genial to connect several things in one package/interface (like code from C, Bash etc). Congratulations it is very helpful. I wonder are you considering to implement something to include the Julia (which recently has a rising popularity)? This is strategy question ...

You should be able to do this using the JuliaCall package: cran.r-project.org/web/packages/JuliaCall/

If you download the RStudio Preview (www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/preview/) then go into Global Options -> R Markdown you'll see a check box to "Enable R Notebooks".

Please how do I display equation of the line and r^2 on my plots in R? In excel it is very easy to do this. I am buying into R because of R markdown. Please help out as I need my equation displayed just the way I use to in excel
