Introducing Sharḥ-i baʿz̤ī maqūla-i kalām-i Hindī (Safīnat al-baḥr al-muḥīṭ Reading Group, 10/22/24)

In this week's session Taimoor Shahid introduces a fascinating Persian text- unknown to scholarship so far as we can tell- contained deep within our volume of the Safīnat. An example of the sharḥ, or commentary, genre, it is however not what you might expect, the commented-upon text, which is not in itself in Persian, one that Taimoor recognized from his childhood! We'll continue with it next week, and will be putting together a transcription and translation as we go, so stay tuned!
