THIS IS AMAZING! I started to study AI and Machine Learning just to create a software like that to help me write, and Sudowrite almost read my mind! All the tools are exactly what I needed! There is two more things I want to see: an Outline tool like that from the Canvas, but in a way that we could write our own outline structure, and the AI would turn the synopsis into a first draft based on that outline. And the other tool I wanted was a way of generating characters based on their Emotional Wounds and Lies. For example, I like to create a character starting with his Emotional Wound, for example: Character: Sarah Emotional Wound: Infidelity (create the backstory based on the emotional wound) Backstory: Sarah experienced betrayal and infidelity in a previous romantic relationship, leaving her emotionally scarred. (the lie that the character believes and that is the oppositve of the Theme of the story) Lie: All men are untrustworthy and incapable of loyalty. (the fear also comes from the Wound, and will guide the character's actions) Fear: Opening herself up to vulnerability and being hurt again. Responses: Being overly cautious in relationships and expecting the worst. (her personality was also influenced by the wound, with positive and negative traits) Positive traits: Intelligent, Compassionate Negative traits: Guarded, Cynical Outer Goal: because the character believes in a lie, he feels unhappy witih life, and will have a desire to change something, to reach something, that's his goal. And the Plot will be the journey of the character trying to reach this Outer Goal. With this structure, the character generated will have a "skeleton", an inner emotional structure. Basicallay, I want something like the Outline tool and Story Engine tool, but for DEEP characters (so that we can create a story based on a character)

I spent a day using this with a story I just started not too long ago. I've got about 8 chapters but know the characters because I've already written a book with these detectives. I got as far as descriptions of characters and an outline. It works quite well. I like the fact that I can edit the outline and make it work to fit the characters I already know and the story I have in my head. I think it will work for me. Starting out month to month so I can pause when I want. Nice that I can pick up again when I want to write my next novel.

HOLY COW! This is amazing!! Do you think it would be possible to one day put a selection of text into the Style box and tell the AI to mimic this style? That way you could post your previous work and have the AI mimic the style you have input, making the seamless transition between books in a series?

When I edit a field (like synopsis or characters) the AI seems to remember the previously generated responses, instead of using my changes. So I'm trying to use the revise fields more often. But ideally I don't want to generate new words, and risk generating changes, or use my word quota. I want the AI to read and use the changes I typed.

To explain more, I changed a character's interests from fashion to rare and valuable items, making the interest broader. I used the revise feature to make these changes to the synopsis and character fields. However the outline is still generating a fashion fanatical character.

After playing around with this a bit I like it, I think it will be great for setting up new stories from scratch, something I felt First Draft had a difficult time doing within the confines of what you actually wanted it to do. So far it doesn't seem like a tool I'd use for sequels or stories I'm partly through yet, seems like It might take me getting more creative with Story Engine for it to be able to help in that regard. I dream of being able to getting AI to produce sequels for me though haha.

Their AI uses the GPT3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and transformer models from OpenAI. Suffice it to say all those models are censored. If your looking for uncensored you'll need a powerful new computer with a good GPU, like NVIDA 3070 or better, and an open sorse model like MPT-7B-StoryWriter-65K (not sure if censored) and a few other things. And even then expect bugs crashs and bugs and no slick interface.

I was really grateful to have access to the BETA model as it was being developed and learned loads from the Sudowrite community on so much and Sudowrite in general and really appreciate the great support of the Sudowrite team too. I loved the format you used to present the instructions here and the way you zoomed in and out for clarity and showed how to generate and pause and what each box did etc, etc. I didn't realise that many authors worked within the boxes on the main generated text and I'll try that from now on until I want to take the work out to add my own value and individualism.

From their FAQ, it's running GPT3, so the same as that: (1) a version of the CommonCrawl dataset, filtered based on similarity to high-quality reference corpora, (2) an expanded version of the Webtext dataset, (3) two internet-based book corpora, and (4) English-language Wikipedia. And no, that's not how it works. Training a textual AI like GPT is out of sudowrite's price range.

Interesting tool. This is a great one that can help you to create your own life story. From the moment you were born, to the year you are right now. You can create a story about your own life, be a story with facts, or with fantasy. The next exciting tool that I am looking for, is one which allows us to put our thoughts, and imagination, into images and create a storyline. Thoughts with images that translate into the life that you want in your life. As the saying, pictures tell a thousand words. It will be better to create a video, or movie with music on it. You can imagine yourself being the main actor, how your life story goes about in real life, and imagine what your next life going to be. Feel good about your imagination, imagine as vivid as you want it to be, as it is real in your life.

I am really trying to get this AI to cooperate with me, but it is being incredibly stubborn. I am trying to outline this story I've wanted to right for years, a very tragic, dark, story about a guy who gains incredible superpowers but is unable to protect those around him. I wrote a long brain dump with a decent outline of how I want it to go, from his friend dying when they are in a war together pre powers, to some of his family being killed when they are being held as hostages and he tries to rescue them, to his brother being brainwashed and experimented on to give him the same powers and turned against him. I want a dark story with scenes of psychological torture and human experimentation, with an evil and controlling government, themes of intense grief and rage. Yet every time I try to generate an outline, no matter how many times I try to rewrite it, it just ignores my brain dump and writes a completely different story with him meeting other super powered people and no matter what it refuses to write my tragic ending. I want the world destroyed at the end, but it wants a happy ending of my character using his powers to help people and everything to be all fine and dandy. This is a serious problem I'm consistently coming across with this software. If I could just put in some "inviolable guidelines" such as "the only other person with powers in this whole story will be his younger brother" so that it stops trying to shoehorn in it's "superhero community" thing. I don't know, it just seems like it is only trained for happy positive content and hasn't had any tragic, violent, or otherwise negative training material. I don't know, maybe put Steven Gould's book Reflex into it's database so it at least has something to go off of.

Word of caution when it comes to the AI writing the story from the Beats Outline. It will not follow the outline. The AI will go "Rouge" and make a right turn off the outline and won't even be close to what the program had written in it's own outline. So why is this import you ask? Well when you have lets say 90k words to use that you have paid for. For every word it writes for you goes against the number whether you use them or not. So if the AI writes 2 beats of junk that you have to erase that's est 3k of words wasted off your 90k total. Sudowrite makes money selling you words so it's in their best interest to sell word packages. They need the AI to waste your word count to sell you more words. The only way to force the AI to follow it's own Beat outline is to bracket each line in the outline [Bracket like this] Another thing to be careful is that by chapter 10 the AI just goes dumb and forgets what is in your story up to that point so again a lot of wasted words against your word count to correct.
