A k series would have made these cars from the factory
It was supposed to have k20 but due to crash test regulations, it was required to have more space at the front before the engine so they just put the 1.5l hybrid. Pretty sad that the car was destined to fail because they didn't try to fix the issue.

It's so cool that a big channel like you is finally giving the CRZ the attention it deserves! @@johnford5568 Yeah it's worse on the dark colored cars obviously. The problem is a lot of the mechanism is made of plastic so it doesn't like the heat and gets fatigued after a while. People used to make custom metal replacements for the plastic parts but idk if they still do.

A 2013 Red CR-Z is mt daily after a dedicated Honda history (91 Civic Si Hatch, 94 del Sol B16A1, 94 Integra LS, 88 CR-X Si, 93 del Sol)....THE ONE BOX I couldn't get checked was finding a a stick. The only 6 speeds available out there were: Salvaged Titles or Modified with no records. Couldn't trust them...I was in a rush too seeing as a delivery truck had destroyed my 93 del Sol and I needed a car. I'm not laughing at you man, I felt the same as you when I finally bought it...I'm so glad I did, the only other things I wish...it was a stick...OR an S2000. From the gauge cluster, to the sport mode...even the S+ button (which I know isn't on the 2011)...little by little I just ended up loving this car.

Its faster than an original MX-5 and despite being FWD just as fun imo.. the Facelifted one also has more power thanks to its LiON battery and extra 500rpm redline (up to 6700 from 6200.) Was the perfect replacement for my Aging Honda Insight G1. Also here in the UK they are 2+2 seaters meaning you can fit 2 children in the back.

I've got a CR-Z and I love that super reliable Torque from the little electric motor at high RPM -- should not be underestimated. A couple years ago I heard about some guys making self-powered rear electric Wheels for Honda hybrids. They made the whole kit with the computer that allowed the wheels to operate off the main Hybrid battery and also provide regenerative braking. Don't know if those guys are still around but it's a super cool way to put extra 300 ft/lbs of torque to the ground with all-wheel drive

Congrats! Heard you talking about this on the TRC podcast and this is a great video to learn more about it. For $2,400, you SCORED! Love the blue lug nuts, I think they must add 5 HP? Or 5 MPG since it's a Hybrid?! I had an '07 Civic Sedan Hybrid that consistently returned 44 MPG (I actually liked the CVT, auto-start stop and regen braking, LOL!). I had to replace the hybrid battery behind the back seat (driver's side) at 145K ( 9 years) for $2,900 at an indy shop. Sold it last summer with almost 200K miles on it, still ran like a champ. Looking forward to seeing the transformation of this car, it is pretty cool. Really like the color. too.

you can paint the interior with duplex vinyl spray can and it looks a whole lot better with the black interior, just don't spray it on the seats cause it'll wear down unevenly

I just bought a 2010 JDM Auto CRZ, can't wait to see what happens 😁 one of the things I apparently have to do is balance the hybrid battery as the older models had a 100V NiMH battery pack ... I think some people were changing them out for the 140V Lion cells that came in later models but don't know if you can just drop an extra 40V into the system without a rather large fire ensuing 😅
