I love mine. I have the rosewood version and it's huge sounding. I changed the bone saddle to Tusq and the bridge pins to the martin liquid metal pins. It sounds even better, almost piano like.

I am absolutely in love with my Super D koa back and sides guitar. It is, by far, the most remarkable guitar I have ever had the pleasure of playing, boasting both exceptional tone and stunning appearance. I find it rather perplexing how some individuals dismiss new ideas without first-hand experience. The opinions of 3 billion people who have never laid hands on this guitar are inconsequential. What truly matters is its incredible sound, beauty, and playability, all of which it delivers flawlessly. While some may choose to stick with traditional methods, I am perfectly content with the innovative Martin Duper D as well as the convenience of modern streaming over an old Victrola. It is only natural for innovations to take time to be embraced, but by then, they are already proven and cherished commodities. 😆

@@timothymeadows8326 None of my sessions are photographed or recorded to my knowledge. Being medical facilities, the residents are all covered by HIPAA privacy laws...no photos of them or anything are allowed out. I know some family members take pictures of their residents, but that really cannot be done where I am. You never know who might walk by or ask to sit down (to prevent a fall). I can have someone take a picture of me AFTER, and I have a few of them. But no sound. I try to find a favorite song for each, and so far, that is 30 minutes just singing favorites. It's a lot different live than a CD. For one thing, I know their names. Singing even helps them speak more clearly. I don't mind starting the session with a few, because in a song or two, there will be a dozen, and shortly, no vacant seats so they sit in other places or open the doors to their apartments and sing along. Even the PTSD folks get relaxed. Maybe someday, I'll write a book. My Dad had old age dementia, my wife had medically induced dementia...the experience is MUCH harder with a spouse than a parent. That's probably why I can relate...I've been there. God bless down there in FL.

@@texhaines9957 Dementia is a horrible condition , and music can and does help ease the suffering of those dealing with it. My mom couldn't remember my name before she passed, but she could recall melodies and words when I would play for her. I definitely understand that video would be discouraged, but would highly recommend taking some audio of your performances ...it is worthy or being recorded imo. I use a zoom h4n audio recorder wherever I have opportunity to play, including care facilities .. the residents singing, humming or whistling along is very precious. I would also highly recommend for any musician or singer to not forget the elderly - they face sadness and feelings of being forgotten in addition to any physical ailments , and the gift of music can be very comforting and medicinal in their time of need . And Thank You for sharing your gift and compassion with them!

I think it sounds like a D-28 crossed with a J-200 - this is a guitar sound I've wanted for years, but never really heard in one. The bass is deeper on the D & G strings and the highs are more rounded off to my ear, with the mids brought up, and it just has a huge presence in the room. It reminds me of a 12-string that way, the huge wall of guitar sound. My ears are definitely perked up to the sound of the Super D!

Nice. Let's hear more, how about Martin promotes this guitar through a variety of Jazz, Blues, Rock stylings? I got my Martin 18 years ago mostly due to the information that the great 60's, 70's rock guitarists wrote a lot of their music on a Martin. Martin does this best, competitors such as Taylor cannot match what Martin brings. The well-done guitar music here is focused on stylings that sound well-done on competitors' guitars. I'm in love with my guitar.

Martin says the Super D is something like 12bB louder on the low end, simply from upsizing the guitar. Something like that anyway. It's in their Shop Tour vid from Premier Guitar that just came out like 30 mins ago.

Needs a little bump to the scale length, or the option to have a 26” scale. The bridge position looks a little odd. Otherwise awesome! I build guitars and am selling mostly the d-45s body shape because of the power. Gets me thinking…
@jed11662 жыл бұрын
Agreed, but I thought of a 12th fret neck joint to push the bridge way farther down into the lower bout, and keep the standard scale length, and go with 18 frets. Then it would REALLY scream! Who needs all this high frets anyways?

@@jeff901 hey Jeff! They sure know much more than me. But, after 55 years tuned down D to D, I know I like big guitars with longer scales. I have an 8 string baritone with a 27” scale, that I tune in D, with medium strings instead of Baritone strings. It sounds great! So far, I have resisted placing an order for a Super D, BUT, if it had a long scale, I couldn’t resist! Keep strumming!

Mechanically different. First, it is not bigger in all dimensions, just some, changing how the stresses are distributed. Second, stress tolerability in materials does not necessarily scale. It's an engineering problem: changing one thing in the system actually does affect everything else, to one degree or another. They could just build it heavier, but then you run into the "built like a tank and sounds like one too" problem. These instruments are built as lightly as possible, while being built heavily enough to stand up under reasonable exposure and use. I for instance, have an HD-28E..... great guitar but the bridge began to lift almost from day one. Could they have built it so that would never happen? Sure, but it would sound the same. The Sweetwater shop and Martin cooperated to honor the warranty, btw, so I am happy since it seems to be staying together now. I'm just saying that a little change affects everything else, and these things must be considered when you are about to crank out a bunch of expensive guitars that you will have to fix if they come back.
