This is vey good. I remember when the latest owners acquired the D'A name and began to produce these guitars. The cork sniffers dismissed them and said it would only be a matter of time before this effort to capitalize on John's guitars would come to an end. I think they've shown how to rebrand a guitar. New models, excellent endorsements, constant innovation, and quality for the price. Good for you, guys!

Recently purchased a D'Angelico Premier...I sold off my collection of Gibson archtop s years ago and must say I was pleasantly surprised by this brand... never owned an original D'Angelico so cant compare , however , for the $$$ these are a nice basis for upgrade, or stand alone

Gypsy Jazz! Best guitar demo EVER! IMO :) D'Angelico is making some of the best guitars around IMO. I dig my D'Agelico Excel blueburst, the fit and finish is exquisite at the price IMO. That Style-B is at the top of my guitar list, and guitar isn't my main instrument anymore (Hammond organ these days). I'd like to see D'Angelico do an acoustic-only version, non-cutaway. :) If you enjoy Vinny Valentino's playing (he's got the Excel in the video), look for him with Tony Monaco and Steve Smith, Groove Blue Organ Trio. Worth a look and listen. Cheers!

D'Angelico is flying way too far under the radar right now. Beautiful instruments with an absolute love affair with artists built into every instrument I've seen. Just ordered myself a Excel bass. Very excited to get it. Nearly exactly what I've been looking for for quite some time. Sorry to see the Excel archtop basses discontinued and very much hoping they'll revisit the line at some point. Maybe after a few user-requested tweeks? Anyway, fantastic work all

Brilliant playing by all 3! I bought the EXL-1 and it sounds just as good as the Throwback's. Changed the strings to flatwounds to get a more traditional jazz tone. Anyone know why D'Angelico ship with round wounds on their jazz guitars? Also, does anyone know what amps both Vinny's are playing through?

i tuned this in to see if i could get some info on the guitar, not to watch some hotshot jazz guys strut their stuff. They are great musicians but their playing tells me little about the guitar other than it is a jazz guitar. i was curious about the floating bridge and if it comes off when you change the strings all at once.
