Solar quartz is where it's at for practicality and convenience. Zero downsides short of an emotional attachment to mechanical, and that's fine too. Would love for brands outside of Japan to embrace the tech more. The Solargraph and Tank Must Solarbeat are the only two Swiss heavyhitters off the top of my head.

Solarbeat Tank was so cool, but the apertures for the accumulator (through the logo) were I believe too small to let enough sun in to adequately power it! Anyone who knows more should weigh in here... - Andrew

Even i am now a quartz fanatic. I had 2 Seiko 5 autos both got magnetized. Got it sorted but they can again get magnetised. Not to mention the setting the time if sat unused for 2 days. Too much to care for. Bought a quartz with day date 24hrs. I literally feel like a free bird now. Automatics are done for me.

@Timeandtidewatches hi water resistance quartz accuracy keeps me on time all the time NATO doesn't get clogged with hair and doesn't move around when cutting. Light weight , timing bezel for colours and treatments and high legibility. Yep perfect

I think the definition of a luxury good is that you don’t need it, it’s superfluous, it costs way more than it should. That’s the case for literally every luxury watch out there. If you’ve ever been in a Bentley you know there is no way in hell its twice the quality of a Mercedes despite twice the price tag. That’s luxury. I own the non limited version on a bracelet and as an enthusiast, I think it’s the perfect vacation and weekend watch. Is it probably the same movement as a citizen? Are there cheaper yet better quartz movements out there? Yes and yes. Regardless, this watch is still all the things he so eloquently described in the video and I’m happy to have it in my collection.

I love the 'Tufflux' look, great job with that, you've done well with the design. However, for the same price you can get the same stock model, but with a titanium bracelet. So you're maybe having a bit of a laff with the pricing, but I'm sure you'll sell out no problem.

Like the looks of the watch, materials chosen, struggle a bit with the 21mm lug width. But what really puts me off is the price tag of 3,3k EUR for the quartz version. Adding customs and taxes makes it even more expensive vs. the already hefty 3,1k EUR of the normal Solargraph from Tag Heuer.

And sorry for repeating myself: If I buy it online and have it shipped to i.e. Germany, another 20-25% on taxes and duties have to be added. So total costs are at approx. +4k

Very nice Andrew but they probably should have used Grade 5 Titanium as it has superior scratch resistance? My grade 2 Franck Muller surface marks are so distracting.

Collecting my steel version with black face on Tuesday and after watching the video, it's still my preferred option. I'm disappointed with Tag Heuer for not offering the rubber deployment straps as alternatives or accessories. I have not even received a reply to my enquiry about that either. I don't understand why this is the case as surely more choice is better business? I do like the Time & Tide logo though!
