There are tons of existing options without a pop top, this is literally the defining feature of this new model. Please don't discourage Winnebago from making these. The loft up top allows for a permanent sleeping set up, increased sleeping airflow, more space inside, and the ability to leave the couches in dining set up.

Would definitely need an air conditioner and a large battery bank such as 8 AGM batteries that would still make this motorhome more affordable versus lithium. Also would be helpful to have a large very powerful alternator to charge the batteries with. Everything else on this motorhome love so much. Great work Winnebago!

Mr. Garfin, nice entry level, with modular design features. Suggest considering the following: 1: refrigerator; upgrade with dual side opening door which swing open from both the left or right sides commonly used in Europe RVs. Thus one can easily access both while outside and inside RV. 2: With my passion of designing and engineering modular systems, nice job incorporating modular hard and soft goods accessories. I conceptualize additional modular furniture and engineered a overhead power track system to add accessories that need low voltage power & those that don’t giving true plug, play and safely stay modular accessories that can be cross-pollinated through product lines, continuously add to sold through your dealer network with easy dealer and/or consumer installations. The overhead powered track system could be called “Winnie-Tracks & Accessories Packs” so one could add additional Plug and Play reading lights, hold and charge electronic devices cellphones, iPads, etc, usb plug in accessory adapters with cords or non corded for computers, Android, Apple formats, additional small storage baskets etc., and being smart tracks have multiplex interpretation. These systems should align with the new technology team’s mission.

Love it. Love the pop top with real sleeping for 4 people and the bench for two behind the front seats. Kind of wish it was on a MB Sprinter but frankly those aren't terribly reliable anyway and add up a huge amount of cost so perhaps just as well. I love this especially because it is a "euro-style" class B that we haven't seen much of in the U.S. at all. These days every class B looks like variations of the same MB Sprinter design (Airstream, Pleasure Way, RoadTrek, etc.) so really excited by the design of this, especially the use of practical materials. That 1 year/15,000 mile warranty is bit shady though. Hope to see this at the next Seattle RV show!

Tough competition for the Hymer Aktiv and the Panoramic. Would love to see the seat convert to a bed (as many here to!) and the Hymer has 2 sky lights to really brighten it up during the day - would be a great option. Lastly, would like to see an option to buy without the pop up to save costs (again, as many here do). Otherwise, with Hymer bankruptcy and Panoramic not yet available in the US this is a great option by a reputable company. PS would love for Winnebago to respond to these comments!

18,000 USD more than a Safari Condo 159 EXT (this is not extended) www.safaricondo.com . Safari Condo has a lifting rear bed. OK people, this is 2019 - forget generators, TV's Air conditioning. Buy a Class C if you want all the extra useless stuff and the weight. I haven't owned a TV in 8 years - have you ever heard of a Laptop, tablet or the internet? AC requires a lot of power, this van (and most vans) are not designed to be sitting in RV park. Buy a Class C if that's what you want. This girl is living full time in this van and she's not complaining about the lack of a generator (OMG why would you want one), AC or TV's.

It seems like the perfect starter RV for a family of 3-4 (3-point seat belts mean child seat won't be an issue) like mine, but being in Texas, no A/C crosses it off my list. Love everything about this van, just wish you could order it with A/C and maybe delete the Pop-top. Bonus points for differing chassis options, but with an A/C, I could definitely live with the ProMaster.

hi.. firstly, I would like to say, you have nailed it, the floor plan, with the included pop top ! It is a perfect upgrade replacement for our vw westphalia ! My wife and I almost put a deposit down with our RV dealer. But, are stepping back from it, as I have read reviews on the RamPromaster chassis and its V6 gas engine and 6 speed transmission. Up to this point the reviews have not been favorable. My question is: Will you be putting the Solis on a Mercedes Benz sprinter chassis with its diesel and 7 gear transmission ? If so, we will put a downpayment on that model right away! thank-you
@uweweinkauf36035 жыл бұрын
that would be an awesome idea. And yes, the rooftop is a must if you have a small family. There aren't many choices out there (with Hymer not offering any warranties) to travel with 4 people or a small family.
@Thegonagle5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't hesitate. It's going to be a lot more reliable than a 30-40 year old VW, that's for sure. Any Dodge dealer and most independents will be able to work on these things. A Sprinter platform would add 20-30 grand to your cost, and there goes the whole idea of an affordable pop-top Class B. $20,000 will buy a lot of transmissions, which should be fine for a long time if you change the fluid every 30,000 miles (outside of manufacturing defects, the people who have problems with transmissions tend to be the same people who neglect their preventative maintenance).

Hi there, here is a deluxe powered ventilator fan in the rear above the double bed and a roof vent in the pop top, but no roof AC.
@Thegonagle5 жыл бұрын
Will there be enough room to add an AC behind the pop-up in place of the vent? I understand keeping the base price attractive, but it would be a nice option, along with a 120 volt system (there appears to be none in the base model), and "dual-fuel" propane/electric Truma Combi for the campground crowd. If technically feasible, a compact microwave/convection oven would go great with the 120 volt option as well. If a rooftop AC could be fitted where the vent fan is now, it looks like there's just enough room to move the vent fan over to the port side of the roof, although that would wreck the aesthetically pleasing symmetry of the rear end. I love the idea of having both, but that's probably more than Winnie would want to take on as a factory option. The overall look is important on a class B. (That might not stop me from trying on my own camper though.)

Since you guys probably have the ears of the people at Winnebago, I’m going to write a little tirade… Hopefully it will make it to them. It’s really frustrating that none of the big RV manufacturers are trying to cater to young Van lifers. There’s literally thousands of videos on KZbin of young people converting and living in vans. It’s a real movement that every manufacturer is ignoring. They are missing a huge market and I’m going to tell you why… I don’t know how it is in the United States, but here in Canada you can finance these vans for 20 years which actually makes them very affordable for most people if they’re living in it full-time. This particular Solis could be financed for about $800 a month - and remember, this would eliminate a car payment for a lot of people as well. I have been selling real estate in Toronto for close to 20 years. In that time I’ve seen the average rent price of a one bedroom apartment go from $1000 a month to almost $2500/month. I’m very confident that if a manufacturer were to make a van that one could easily live off-grid stealthily like a condo in a cargo van for $800 a month they would sell thousands of them. The Solis is the closest I’ve seen to what I’m talking about by any of the large manufacturers, however without lithium batteries or even a microwave it makes it not an option for most people. It’s so sad that I’m going to have to spend $200,000 to get one custom-made just so I can live comfortably because the people at Winnebago don’t want to put the proper battery system in it.

Make the children behave. (They usually only touch a hot stove once anyway.) You don't want to swap the sink and the burners, as that would put the burners right next to the bed.

I'd rather be able to open up the entire ceiling like the Recon or Sportsmobile to create more height in lower space. My honey is 6'8".

This is a high roof van to begin with - its unnecessary.
@BrokerBarbara1195 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianTexaninLiguria I can understand why it wouldn't be necessary for a person of average height. Unfortunately it is not the best option for tall people who are 6'5" and taller. Also the pop top option affords extra sleeping in the Recon or Sportsmobile design where the entire ceiling opens up providing 8' + interior height, light and ventilation. That's impressive. At night fold the ceiling down to provide extra sleeping space for 2 more people / kids. I like this van and many of the others but I am still leaning towards the retractable ceiling pop top for all of those reasons. It's a personal preference.
@born2bwildne7445 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianTexaninLiguria Interior height is listed at 6' 2" - so not too tall for tall people. .... and I will bet that is measured from the lower floor rather than from the raised floor in the back. Like most things, it will be good for some and not do good for others, depending upon one's needs. I am 6'4" - and stooping just a little can quickly become very uncomfortable.

5:50 Why doesn’t that lounge window shade roll down out of sight into a slot? That ugly design with the always in sight perimeter material and clumsy zippers as your strain over the table is terrible. Love so much of the rest of the video tho!The dog loops under the step, the floor light backlight for the water meter...just add a roll up door mat that retracts under the side step up so the entry way to the van can be covered.
@Melissa-eo4zu5 жыл бұрын
I really wish the designer would think about how hard it is to crawl around on the floor to open those door cabinets and fridge. Not everyone has acrobatic experience or are able to twist without shouting. It would be awesome if someone could figure out removable or transition seating for the “grandkid” bench. It is wasted space for two adults...90% of the time...but nice for those times we want to bring kids or friends is also important.

I personally think that the Winnebago execs are losing it. First they come out with the Merc Benz version of the Travato, when all the Ram Travato needed was some redesign on the engine to improve performance. Now they are sticking a family of four in a mini Travato with a pop top. Four people in basically three less feet of space from the Original Travato 59G - which BTW is also a four person camper. Whatever new styling they have in this Solis could have easily been adapted to the 59G - except for that "YAY" cassette toilet that just does not work for US based diets. A family of four hearty eaters with a cassette toilet. I think Winnebago is losing it. They have two proven designs in the original Travato "G" and "K". What - - they couldn't put a pop top on one of those? And as for the other "upgrades", they could have easily transitioned those features to the Travato models as well.
