I thought the whole purpose of having tractors separate from machinery was so you can have a handful of tractors to power a large number of farm machinery instead of having every piece of equipment have its own engine and drive train and all the extra maintenance that comes with it. What you've done is made a self propelled machine that can only do one thing and when its not doing that one thing its just a very expensive hunk of metal sitting around doing nothing but taking up time and money for you to maintain it. not only that but this would increase the number of vehicles you need to complete the job. You would need this plus a tractor to pickup the bales instead of just having a single tractor with a bale spear in the front and a baler in back.

@@tobybaker1978 no man were contractors and we make abt plus the amounf of bales u said there and i think the fusion 2 & 3 is just better because it wraps the bale for u aswell it puts hours on the tractor and easier to maneuver especially in Ireland cause we have tight gaps and small fields then we have big gaps and massive fields so it varies thats why i would puck a fusion over a self propelled

That's a great concept. From a futuristic perspective, it's pretty freaking cool. Id like to take a closer look at one personally just because my curiosity is getting the better of me. I don't know that it's the most practical choice, unless you are covering serious acreage. I think that if you could make a self propelled big square baler that you would really have something. You still have to stop every bale with a round baler, where as you could keep on trucking with a big square baler.

Very cool! A non-stop version would be again as stunning! I used to custom round bale and felt like the big square balers really had an edge on acres per hour. Stopping to secure and eject a round bale is a noticeable delay and time consuming.

Probably fine in good conditions, Will only cater to some markets. We've had to go as and when we can with weather and had issues with the material stalling in the pickup, How do you visibily keep an eye on material going into the pickup? Is there a camera or a window you can watch?

Farming In 1080P well of course everything works in the perfect conditions it was designed for, but I'm sure it's got sensors or something hat would let you know if it doesn't have a cameras. Either way it's a single task piece of equipment that sits way too much for it to be cost effective to be self propelled.

I keep an eye on the pickup constantly, you generally see when its gonna block up then you ease up forward speed. This saves time getting out unblocking it after you've rammed material in the machine because you "cant see it". I agree on the last past tho, same with self propelled sprayers in my personal opinion

whats the idea? I dont know much about farming in other countrys than Denmark, but the farmers have high debt, an small earning atm. Is it cheaper than a normal baler? Is it better than driven with a normal tractor in front? Less maintenance? Faster? What makes this better?

OK idea, but for me I would like to be able to see the pickup reel, the faster you bale, the less time you have to react if things go tits up. I would rather have the pickup on the front like other self propelled machines. Also, wouldn't it be better if the steering was on the rear? The way them tiny wheels were wobbling wouldn't instill any confidence in me, might be OK on a nice tarmac road, but, on some of the country roads we have here in the UK I think it would be a real handful.

The idea is fantastic but I dont see such a baler working here in ireland as we dont get to bale much hay anymore with the weather pattern so there is an awful lot of baled silage made so I would think the swarths of grass would be too heavy for this machine

I would think turf tires instead of bars would be fine for hay ground. Reduces damage to crop while doing the 0 turn. Same concept as a 0 turn mower.

That is really, REALLY cool, but how do you know when you have a good bale start, or a plugged pickup... before it's a REAL mess? I just don't think I'd be comfortable not being able to see the pickup.

Thinking from an economical stand point, how is this self propelled baler feasible for the guys who don't make 10,000+ round bales a year? It's another engine, transmission, and machine to have around that costs much more than just having a round baler and tractor and this only does one job. That's the beauty of a tractor you can unhook it from a baler and use it to do many other jobs and the cost of use is much lower. Not to mention I see round bales being obsolete in the coming years in lieu of large square bales

BIlly the SMall Bong thorton from india we absolutely won't be buying one. It's a single use machine that would sit unused 7-8 months a year and just as expensive as and tractor and baler combo yet you can use a tractor gear round and for many other tasks. Plus the Deere 4 and 569 balers make a better bale than I've seen any Vermeer baler make.

It be hard to maintain .Rather the tractor option .If you have engine or other problems .Get another tractor or even borrow .Don t think you have a spare one of this machine in the shed.Another road tax and insurance /maintain bill for the year .Plus a higher fire risk machine .A lot of dust and straw near cab/engine .I be for the tractor here ..

But I know new Holland tried this and There was Alis Chalmers had a Proto type self propelled round Bailer even Minneapolis Moline had A square Bailer with the uni they just never seem to catch on probably just too expensive and not as needed. I mean maybe this will be the first you never now it's crazy to think that there was probably someone who made these exact arguments about a self-propelled combine chopper or sprayer

Make it a 3 in 1 self propelled hay machine it would be worth it. if it could have a front 3 point hitch with PTO and be able to have a discbine mower attachment and a v rake or rotary rake attachment that feeds directly into the pickup. also i would feel better if you could see the pickup and that it was easy to access. self propelled big square baler?

They might have turned the bail the other direction to be picked up by a stinger truck the Stinger truck picks the bale up from the side if you never see one work look up Stinger trucks in action Bale retrieving truck can be used for a round or squares
