@@jahmaykan3560 because doorbells weren't meant to protect the road or the driveway. I can see that being a valid concern if people are driving up into the porch. Sometimes I'm walking around the streets and people have decided to mount ring doorbell cameras out over their driveways above the garage because for whatever reason they didn't want to just buy an outdoor camera I find that hilarious. So maybe that's what she did. Maybe she had Vivint to install a doorbell camera right above her garage. In which case that technician should be fired because that's going against protocol. Cuz when I asked for a doorbell camera to be installed anywhere other than a door like a back door front door or side door, the technician says no he can't do it.

What’s the difference of this camera vs the one we have that’s right outside above our garage door which tells us when someone pulls in and out???

Black & gray is the hd400/450. Yours is a great camera but It’s the older camera. Yours has motion alerts so would work for all types of motion but more likely to give alerts or record things that aren’t important. The pro adds higher resolution, two way talk, active deterrence and smarter AI alerts/detection. No need to upgrade unless you want to but that’s the basic difference.

Software update. No additional purchase necessary. Both me and my sisters system have it. Check your panel if it says there's an update available

Should be automatic. If you don't see it, try rebooting the camera from the camera settings page and see if that forces a camera software update.

Just got an email regarding this feature. I have a Gen 1 and nothing appears under Notification or Recording.

I have both gen 1s and 2s. Both show up for vehicle detection. And my sister has gen 1s only and she has it in the system. Software update. Call in about it.

Possibly camera didn't update the software successfully. You can try to reboot the camera from the camera settings page to force an update.
