Like you, Patrick seeks to be an eternal student of the horse and the horsemen that have come before him - and he feels it is his duty to share the knowledge that he has gained along his journey. Actually... impressive as I find this, my feeling was "Wow! I could never do this. I am sure my horse would not step like this for me." And I think the reason is that I am not awfully clear as to what the end goal is.
