Hi there. . . Guaranteed way to 'Squish the Queen' by Inverting that Catcher over and down on her ! NO ! Don't do as per Video !!! Tip : Instead :Open that Slider (QE Flap) AND Place that Catcher in a LANDSCAPE position in FRONT of that Queen directly on that Frames Comb. . . And let her WALK IN by herself ! Then Carefully Slide QE Slider Closed. 👍 By having approx 1/3rd 'Gap' Opening : she can be Ushered In (without other Bees getting in.) Then Raise that Foam Platform carefully so the Queen's Body is in 'Line with those QE Gaps'. That Foam Pad is 'holding' not Mashing that Queen in there !!! Mark her with the Correct Colour Bee Marker Pen. For 2025 your Marking is "Blue" re Year ending "5" Do it Safely. Allow a few Mins to let that Paint Dry. Then slowly lower the Cage into a LANDSCAPE position again, aka lying on that Comb Surface : And open that Slider Flap open : The Queen will Walk back into the Colony of Bees happily ! . . . . Just saying. 🙄 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Beekeeping 2025 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Ps. When your Region has a decent level of Dones (Boy Bees) I would get a 'Queen Cell' from one of your Nicest Hives and "Re-QUEEN" that Nasty Hive. Use your own Local Raised Queens. The best over Shipped in ones. . . 😖 Raising QC's is easy. Have a x2 Brood Box Stack, put a Divider Board in between them for x24hrs. No Queen Phremones in 'which ever Box the Queen is NOT in' will start to make 'Queen Cells' via the SoS 'Where's the Queen Response (?) Workers 'can't smell the Queen' and think make one ! You utilise this SoS Process. (And then let that Queen move about her Phremones again by the Workers 'touching each over' and passing her presence about ! WITH the Queen not having direct access to those QC's : She will kill them if no QE is placed between her Box and the other Box with its QC's in it !) Process : After that x24hrs. Remove that Solid Full Board and instead add a "Queen Excluder". You want those SoS Cells to be Feed and Drawn Out by Nurse Bees (who can come and go through that QE, but not the Queen. . . After x8 Days you will have "Sealed" Queen Cells that you can CAREFULLY Cut Out and add one to that now premade Hopelessly Queenless Hive (you removed the Bad Genetic Nasty Bee layer, Kill her* !) Bees will accept a QC within say x 20 Minutes after you dispatch that Horrible Queen. Or make up some Nucs via Splits ( These are known as Artificial Swarm ! Done by the Beek, you Controlled the process.) And add a QC to each made. You will hopefully have better Bees once that VQ goes out and gets Mated. 👌 Leave Colony totally alone for x2 Weeks, so 'New Queen' establishes a good Brood Laying pattern ! Tip 2. Keep Dead Queens ! Add her dead Body* to a Bottle of Rubbing Alcohol : Make DIY Swarm Lure : All those Ex Queen Phremones will steep into that Alcohol over time. Add a Drop or two to some Card, Cotton Wool. These will pull in 'Swarming Bees'. Grab those "Free Bees" ! 😉
