Divisions of Shia and Sunni in Islam.
This episode explains the major sects in Islam. This video explains the basic difference between Shia Muslims and Sunni Muslims. It tells the division of Islam and the percentage of each division.
Islam is mainly divided into two groups. Shia and Sunni. About 87 to 90% of Muslims follow Sunni Islam, while 10 to 13% of Muslims follow Shia Islam. Sunni Islam is further divided into four major categories. Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, and Hanbali. In Southeast Asia, the Hanafi school of thought is further divided into the Barelvi and Deobandi school of thought. Hanbali school of thought is modified into Wahabism and Salafism.
Shia Islam is divided into 3 main branches. Twelvers, Islamilis, and Zaydis

Guess what? Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal was one of the four Imam in fiqh who was also the the narrator/compiler of shaheeh Hadith. That's why the so called ahl hadeeth (the wahabi and salafi) took their fiqh mostly from his school of thought. They said they don't follow madzhab only sunnah, but they mostly take Imam Ahmad as reference, very little on other Imam. that is unfair. ushul fiqh was older than ilm hadeeth. Even Imam Ahmad and Imam bukhari were Imam shafii's students.

Now, the differences between Majhab is AQEEDA, but first 300 hijry, all were Salafi.

🇬🇧 First of all, these are not schools of thought but schools of jurisprudence (madhab al fiqh) and Sunni Islam is divided into 4 schools of jurisprudence (not categories): Hanafi, Malikite, Shafiite and Hanbali. These 4 schools of jurisprudence all recognise and validate each other. Then there are the Salafists, Wahabbites, Deobandis etc.. These are political and social movements adapted to the context in which they emerged, but they are all affiliated to a school of fiqh. So stop inventing divisions where none exist. Sunni Muslims, whatever their school, all pray together at the mosque, live together and practise together. On the other hand, Shi'ism is extremely divided into numerous sects, many of which have disappeared, but today in 2022 there are still 6 of them: Duodecimal Shi'ism, Zaydi Shi'ism, Ismaili Shi'ism, Alevism, the Alawites and the Druze. These sects do not recognise each other and do not have the same rites or the same dogma (they do not even recognise the same number of imams, the duodeciman stops at the 12th whereas the alevis see 11 and the zaydites only 5) of course this is important as it will define their beliefs and dogma. Note: duodecimal shiism was imposed by force on Azeris and Iranians by the Safavid dynasty, before that these two countries already had nearly 1000 years of Sunni belief and heritage. PS: the Hanafi school and the Deobandis movements etc... It's in South Asia (India, Pakistan etc) not in South-East Asia (Indonesia Malaysia etc) which are affiliated to the Shafiite school. 🇨🇵 Déjà c'est pas des écoles de pensée mais des écoles de jurisprudence (madhab al fiqh) et l'islam sunnite se RÉPARTI entre les 4 écoles de jurisprudence (et non catégories) hanafite, malikite, shafiite et hanbalite. Ces 4 écoles de jurisprudence se reconnaissent et se valident toutes entres elles. Ensuite pour ce qui est des salafistes, wahabbites, deobandis etc.. Ce sont des mouvements politiques et sociaux adapté au contexte ou ils ont émergé mais qui sont tous affilié à une école de fiqh. Donc arrêtez d'inventer des divisions là où elle n'existe pas. Les musulmans sunnites, peu importe leur école, prient tous ensemble à la mosquée, vivent ensemble et pratique ensemble. Par contre le chiisme est extrêmement divisé en de nombreuses sectes, beaucoup ont disparu, mais aujourd'hui en 2022 il en existe encore 6 : le chiisme duodécimain, le chiisme zaydite, le chiisme ismaélien, l'alévisme, les alaouites et les druzes. Ces sectes ne se reconnaissent pas entre elles et n'ont absolument pas les même rites ni le même dogme (ils ne reconnaissent même pas le même nombre d'imam, le duodécimain s'arrête au 12e là ou les alevis en voient 11 et les zaydites seulement 5) bien-sûr cela a une importance puisque ça va définir leur croyance et leur dogme. Remarque : le chiisme duodécimain a été imposé par la force aux azéris et iraniens par la dynastie Safavide, avant cela ces deux pays avaient déjà près de 1000ans de croyance et héritage sunnite. PS : l'école hanafite et les mouvements deobandis etc... C'est en Asie du sud (Inde, Pakistan etc) pas en Asie du Sud-Est (Indonésie Malaisie etc) qui eux s'affilie à l'école shafiite.
