This is so interesting and informative. I trained under a master batik artist in Nigeria, for five years, to make batik/wax print. Years later , I have continued to love creating batik designs on cotton.

This is so interesting. Growing up there was a bit of disdain of these types of textiles and traditions in the west. They were seen as primitive. Nowadays everyone is asking how to make things more sustainable and get away from putting plastics in everything. These "primitive" traditions are the answer to the future ❤❤❤🙌🏾🙌🏾.

If not for constantly annoying "um" s of presentation, this would be great presentation. See about editing them out. A suggestion.

Seriously little brotha Sunny! They were NOT Belgian "explorers"! They were Belgian colonizers, Enslavers and invaders!!! Let's stop pandering to white fragility by glossing over TRUstorical facts of who/what europeans were doing in/to Afrika during that time. The camera angles on the woman weaving at the loom was bad. Weavers/textile artisans want to see what she was doing. Because the camera angle was from her left side her left hand was blocking what her right hand was doing. Just sayin...
