Introduction to and How to Care for Sunflowers - Wholesale Flowers and Academy ( Triangle Nursery)

Learn the best way to condition and look after your wholesale cut sunflowers for an up and coming wedding, event or simply just styling your home!
To get the best from your wholesale cut sunflowers please read the care instructions below carefully:
Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
Strip the lower foliage from the stems.
Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water.
Place the sunflowers in the buckets.
Leave over night to condition before using.
It is advisable not to condition Sunflowers in galvanised buckets (especially with flower food) as it can be detrimental to the longevity of the blooms.
Based on in-house trials, we advise not to use flower food with sunflowers. We have found that commercially grown sunflowers for the florist industry responded better when using fresh water changed daily rather than flower food retained over a period of days.
We have also found that they do not respond well when arranged in wet foam.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the sunflowers in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
