I did this super briefly today and it legitimately scared me how my body just sorta violently reacted to me thinking about the question and how I felt

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! This is THE most useful video I have found in learning more about using this tool well and responsibly. Very clear and informative, and love the little extras you include- the toy, the other bi-lateral stimulation options. Subscribed and will watch more of your content.

This was simply an awesome explanation of Brainspotting. I’m a newly trained Brainspotting therapist. This has been helpful for me in conceptualizing the Brainspotting process and will help me with explaining it to my clients. Thank you.

After all that you still need to do EMDR?
@thesenselesspeaceproject12066 жыл бұрын
Really all depends. It seems to be a good complement and often additional material will surface. I figure if someone is in the midst of processing trauma, that using as many tools as are available is usually indicated. I'm pretty sure you could find other brainspotting therapists that may have other thoughts on this though.

I had a few sessions with BS therapist and there was no activation. What does it mean?
@annalaurenciamayer953 ай бұрын
It means you have a trigger in your body you became enotional or anxious, your body is starting to react

Thank u so much,Kenny.I just saw this term in a comment on Facebook and wanted to know what is it.I loved ur simple,detailed presentation. Even if these therapies r available in Portugal where I live, right now I really cannot afford them right now... Can one try this on oneself,alone? Could u make some recommendations for this case? The fact is I really need help.Simple talking about some past experiences lately leaves me all tearing,nose clogged barely breathing followed by a severe migraine n vomiting,sometimes...It would mean a lot whatever suggestion u could give me.I will more into this myself,just in case.

I live in New Mexico in the south west US and was just introduced to this technique despite being in therapy for the 30 + years though not continuously. From the video I think this technique only works with a counselor who is observing you and can notice the body movements that you may be aware of yourself. As is mentioned in the video the trauma from earlier in life is deep in the lower brain thus it is not something we are conscious of though it can come out when we get triggered. This technique offers a safe way to address the trauma. I would suggest to continue to read about it and watch videos and you might find aspects of it that you can do on your own. Like the part about remembering a joyful experience and to focus the details of it that made it joyful and while reflecting on it do the tapping on the shoulders like was demonstrated. Also look up EMDR which was the earlier version of brain spotting for addressing trauma. Good luck to you.

You really packed a lot in here, thank you. Here's one question that I don't think is covered well in the book Brainspotting (thus far): what does "processing" look/sound like for the dyad? Grande is all about the attunement/relationship but this essential concept feels fuzzy.

That may depend on where you live. I’m in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain brainspotting institute has a program where they offer a limited number of sessions at no charge. You may want to check and see if something like that is close to you

Sounds like EMDR but without the protocol and without the reprocessing. A crucial part of treating trauma especially complex and pre-verbal traumas.
