I literally didn't even finish watching the Report. I went over to the site thinking this whole online academy was a neat idea, and started finding videos about the topics I need to study for my test next week (pity I only found out about the Academy today). It's 1:56am and I'm studying Biology on the web for free. THIS is what those visionaries imagined the Internet would be one day.

Super helpful video! I sat down to watch the cellular respiration series thinking that I would be cramming for my cell bio exam tomorrow but it turns out that I already knew the stuff,, i just needed a simple and clear expaination and this was it! I don't think many professors know how helpful it is (especially to adhd students like myselft) to just explain things in the simplest terms and expressions. I just love how concise and exact your lessons are. I know it can be good practice to have to use critical thinking skills to reach conclusions about topics like this but i find that style of teaching to be my weakness. anyways thanks a bunch for these great videos! I find that watching videos like this is the happy medium of learning. (So is teaching in a class while writing on the board, if the teacher does it well, i think.) Reading from a textbook is energy-draining and difficult. Listening to a lecture can be boring and you can miss details. But listening *and* reading, looking at the notes and listening to the explanation, is like reading along to an audiobook; it makes a lot of sense, and doesn’t require that much strain or cause confusion. Thank you for all the help. I hope you know you’re a *literal blessing* to us all

I don't know if this will help anyone, but the reason it is called 'Glycolosis' and not 'Glucolysis', is because althought it mainly works on glucose, other types of carbohydrates can enter the Glycolysis cycle to produce ATP, so therefore it is not necessarily only Glucose.

Hey Sal, just to clarify something for you. 38 ATP's are generated by aerobic prokaroyotes and 36 ATP's are generated from aerobic eukaryotes. The reason for this is because in eukaryotes the 2 NADH's that are generated during glycolysis in the cytoplasm need to traverse the mitochondria membrane in order to take place in ETC. The NADH's traverse the mitochondrial membrane using a porin channel that needs one ATP per NADH. Since proks dont have membrane organelles they save these 2 ATP's.
@oshitomaha10 жыл бұрын
Glycolysis needs 2 ATP's, to generate 4 ATP's so on a net bases generates 2 ATP's??? wtf is that

Think of ATP as money. To start your business (glycolysis) you spent 2 dollars (2 ATPs) and at the end of the day made 4 dollars(4 ATPs) therefore you profited 2 dollars (a net of 2 ATPs)

May be u are rich enough to pay for each and every online helpful or useful videos. But many people arent. The more the number of viewers the uploader gets the money, so its fair.. If the video is nice and watchable then it is obvious it will have maximum viewers and the uploader get to earn money and the students who are hungry for knowledge gets to lear many new and interesting things.

Doesn't it produce 36 ATP?
@KB_MUFC9 жыл бұрын
No 38
@rileyb59879 жыл бұрын
38 ATP is how many ATP that is produced in the entire process from 1 glucose, but there are multiple steps that require ATP and only produce ATP under ideal conditions so the NET ATP is closer to 30 ATP. It is calculated as cytosol NADH (NADHc)=1.5 ATP (as it costs an ATP to enter the mitochondria) mitochondria NADH (NADHm)=2.5 ATP GTP=1 ATP FADH2=1.5ATP Glucose = 2ATP+2GTP+2NADHc+8NADHm+2FADH2 = 30 ATP (text books say 36 because they round all the .5 ATPs up and 38 because they dont account for the invested 2ATP.)
@gertrudechikwanka43709 жыл бұрын
+叶靖宇 one molecule of glucose will produce 38 mol of ATP if the NADH produced is transported to the mitochondria via the malate shuttle but if it is transported to the mitochondria via the glycerophosphate shuttle, only 2 mol of ATP will be formed so the net production will be 36 instead of 38
@qwertyokful9 жыл бұрын
+叶靖宇 Without the Krebs cycle it would produce only 36 but combing the process of the Electron transport chain and the Krebs cycle it creates a total a 38.
@sophieagudelo74779 жыл бұрын

Every single cell in a human body has a mind portion meaning it can be controlled-by thought. Cayce said that any physical disorder is a consequence of sin. You can repair it by a positive thought and self forgiveness. Any life situation, whether in business or personal relationship keeps on repeating until a lesson is learnt. Accept that situation, walk away with love, not anger- that life program will be de-coded.

Actaully, it is anywhere from 36-38 ATP. NADH+H+ each provide 3 ATP, while FADH2 provides only 2. 8NADH+H+ are produced, giving 24 ATP, and another 2 FADH2 bring the total to 28 ATP. Then 4 ATP come from Substrate-Level Phosphorylation, bringing it to 32 ATP total. Finally, two more NADH+H+ transfer their electrons to either NAD+ or FAD+. Depending on which receives the electrons, the number of total ATP goes from 36-38.
