Flint & steel is a traditional fire making skill that is worth learning and practicing in bushcraft. It's a great option for fire making, the kit is rather small and it's easy to carry in a pocket on your person. Although there are many modern methods that make starting a fire easier, flint & steel is a good fall back option and once you have grasped the basics it soon becomes an easy method for fire starting.
