I start a (BSc Hons) in Forensic Psychology this October . As a X criminal and also a hard working Plasterer my self and with studying Psychology as a passion for over 10 years. The topic isn't boring but she presents like a 8th grader. As this is supposed to give the students a good first impression, she shouldn't have had this class. That's a University and everyone presenting should have a certain level of ability to present well.

No. No slack for a PhD who can't say, "field" instead of, "feud" or says, "...who wants to become a police", or who uses that childish, pretentious affect so common in Californians, and whose sole perspective on forensic psychology is from defending the accused and avoiding conflict with those who are guilty. She put it out there, and if she is not mature enough to own it, then she needs the ridicule and derision. A forensic psychologist has, by the nature of the work, to be secure, confident and competent because the attorneys on the other side of the issue are going to eat her alive in a courtroom or judge's chambers. As to your comment about if it's boring, then don't watch...how the actual fuck is someone to know that BEFORE watching? CalSouthern needs to know the common, popular opinions of the videos they publish in order to improve. You are a moronic snowflake. She is not being bullied in the comments and does not need your pity. Take a course in logic and rationality, there are lots of free resources!

I had mandatory therapy sessions and the guy Dr was a lizard shaped robot like me and was sooo not reaching the other patients as well as the lady Dr who had a more intimate approach.

This field is easier because your dealing more with court rooms, motives, assessing, etc.. you have to be a pretty dominant lady to deal with criminals though. It's a unique field, it's not like working at walmart. My main interest in this field is, "Why?" and the backround of the killer, i'd get paid for this lol.

Honestly, this is very interesting. I've watched a lot of forensic psych docs. and those docs. felt like they were filled with fillers. This video is straight to the point with a great explainations and I like that. Thank you, for sharing.

39:05 - Uhh, there's some problems here. I mean, there are problems seemingly everywhere in forensic psych, but holy god: If the prevailing wisdom in Forensic Psych is that Group Therapy for sex offenders is good because it allows the offenders to shame other offenders and feel better because "at least I'm not as bad as that guy", then that seems like Forensic Psych applied to criminal recovery is ran by someone who is stuck in 1950's incompetency. Or someone who sees benefit in that system failing and creating more criminals...woof CBT seems chill and good though, but it still has an odd aspect of WHO gets to determine WHAT is normalized...

if police applicants are psychologically assesed during the hiring phase, how did those cops who's trigger happy and abusive towards citizens pass the psychological test??

I'm sure this occurs AFTER they've become officers and the power they feel makes some act that way. I'm pro- police but I'm sure the feeling of being a cop and the things they see and go through definitely contribute to somes downfalls.

Because there are literally hundreds of thousands of police officers and even if these psychological tests are 99.9% accurate that would still be enough of the "Bad" police candidates getting through, and to allow idiots to think the country is filled with "trigger happy" cops when in reality it is a small portion of the law enforcement community.

That's like asking if most people are educated, some even to doctoral levels, why are they still stupid? Why some sick people don't get better even after visiting doctors many times? Nothing is perfect, let alone psychological assessments. Also, as above comments said, some of these police may change AFTER they became police. Also, there are many factors involved when recruiting people. Office politics & nepotism may enter the scene.

hmmm...so she doesn't explain advocacy vs expert roles. The roles are vastly different and very important - puts to rest a lot of misconceptions, too! This statement, 'My dissertation chair can tell you exactly the background of the killer...'. Sometime we can! Profiling is probability. Hopefully, she gains her pedagogic traction soon - no doubt she's a subject matter expert, but her ability to convey her deliverables needs to improve.

Worst speaker ever. I don't feel she's professional and she doesn't convey that she has an educated understanding of what she's talking about. I don't feel she gives the respect due to mental illness. She has very set ideas that she regurgitates and just feels very judgmental... something that doesn't bode well for stigma or treatment. This is an example of what angers me about the field.
