Not sure when you will see my question, but I wonder why when you enter a variable name in the "return" area it doesn't work, but works with words such as "sum" or "total".

Function can return multiple values by tuple concept. but sir C/C++ can also have functions returning multiple values.u mentioned they can't .Clear me please.

The scope of both the variables is different, hence its fine. You can use different variable names as well, say x,y if it helps make it clearer.

Hi Vivek, print(sum) returns the output to console/ screen. return sum, returns the variable with the value of sum to the calling function and won't print to the screen or console. In your first code - for printing result you have to use: print(add(5,6)) for the second code - just calling the function is enough as print is within the function. E.g. add(5,6) Hope this helps!
