This was incredible. Both hosts were in the conversation and both were in sync. Of course, I'm assuming this was scripted no doubt, but this was very professionally made. The flow and detail given was easy to understand. I like clean and short. I did notice however that they both wore the same outfits they had in their previous video where they were also both present. I wouldn't think it matters much, and to be honest, I really don't think it affects the integrity of the information. I just notice things... Good up the good work! Thumbs up to the video editing people, writers, and everyone who had a part in this video. Congrats!

@JapanesePod1017 жыл бұрын
Hi Ayman Hansali, Thank you for posting. Yes, you can. Each kanji character has some meanings in and of itself, whereas hiragana and katakana have only sounds. Mostly hiragana is used as particles or to support kanji. For example, 犬がワンワン吠える。 (A dog barks "bowwow".) You can also write it all in hiragana, it looks childish though. いぬ が わんわん ほえる。 Hope this helps you. Keep studying with JapanesePod101.com Regards, Miki Team JapanesePod101.com

Were you to know what it was and its' function in Japanese grammar, once you'd watched the video above, you wouldn't need to ask the question.
@genas67038 жыл бұрын
it isn't used because it's hiragana counterpart is only used a particle. And since particles are only written in hiragana, it doesn't have a use in katakana
@Li.Siyuan8 жыл бұрын
Splendid answer, Genevieve. As I said above - watch the video and you will understand. If you listen carefully.The katakana mora ヲ has a hiragana equivalent of を. Simply put, it is usually transliterated 'wo' but is pronounced 'o' and grammatically, is a particle that marks the direct object of a transitive verb.

Just out of curiosity. If I happen to study kanji, does that mean that I will be familiar not only with Japanese language, but with Chinese language as well?
@ddalgi-hime-078 жыл бұрын
Well, since kanji/Chinese characters are "ideas" and not words made up of sounds, you'd probably be able to read Chinese and understand what they mean, but not speak it. For example, Mandarin and Cantonese use pretty much the same writing system with the same characters but the way they would say those "ideas" is different. Mandarin and Cantonese speakers cannot understand each other but they can read the same thing because no sound is necessarily associated with the characters.

I have a question, What's the difference between "jamata" and "jamatane"? How are they used?
@user-cq9pd8ou3z8 жыл бұрын
+Kris Stewart Almost the same. -ne is added when you want to share emotion or opinions.
@taijusakai72768 жыл бұрын
Not really a difference, jamata usually used by guys, while jamatane used by girls
@JapanesePod1018 жыл бұрын
Hello Kris Stewart, Thank you for posting! This is good question!! Basically, "ne" is used to indicates emphasis, agreement or request for confirmation. Besides, adding "ne" at the end of a sentence, it becomes more soft and casual. So in this case, "Ja, mata ne." is used in a casual situation. We often say to friends and especially girls and women love to use it. "Ja, mata." is like more formal. In a very formal situation, you should say "Sore dewa, mata." Hope this helps you. Katakana is "slightly" different from Hiragana??
@JapanesePod1016 жыл бұрын
Hi o0OHermioneO0o, Thank you for posting. In terms of their shapes, most of katakana letters are similar to hiragana letters. (For example, せ/セ, り/リ, か/カ, etc...) Hiragana and katakana syllabaries were invented as Japanese original scripts. Mostly hiragana is used as particles or to support kanji. And katakana is mainly for loan words and onomatopoeia.
