Hi, everyone. It's Alise from Knit Me Sew Me. Throughout the years, people have asked me how Knit Me Sew Me came to be and the main reason is because of my mom. My mom taught me how to knit and crochet when I was a little girl and I still have her afghan that she made 50 years ago because she was so good at it and she taught me so well.
The first project I ever made, I think I was in eighth grade. It was a popcorn stitch, kind of granny square afghan. I don't have the Afghan anymore, but I sure have the pattern and it's all tattered and torn and I've got it in a really safe place to hang onto it.
I learned how to sew in grade school, back in the dark ages when we took Home Economics and I carried that into high school and then carried it into college and because I lived in Phoenix where the summers are brutally hot, I was able to make all of my summer clothes because there were basically sleeveless tops and sleeveless dresses.
Throughout my life. I've always done some kind of knitting and I got into designer sweaters. I was really making a lot of sweaters for myself. I made my husband two cardigans and a pullover. And after having more sweaters than anybody could ever want, I said to my mom, you know, what am I gonna do? I have all these sweaters I don't really need anymore. And she said, you know what? I think you should start a business and I thought, oh, that's a really great idea.
So I started with baby things. So Knit Me Sew Me's first group of products were baby things. Baby blankets, stuffed animals, bottle holders, bean bags, booties, and then we transitioned into a line of accessories. So now you can find head wraps, headbands, fingerless, gloves, and hats and scarves. So not to keep, you know, Still and always moving forward. We also transitioned into home goods. So there's all sorts of cup, mug and bowl cozies. There's dishcloths. There's scrubby. There's all sorts of things for your home. And then there's also a few things on the side, like for Easter and Halloween
I just love creating products that are really extraordinary, unusual. Different things that you won't find in mainstream marketplaces where handmade doesn't seem to thrive these days. So one of my goals is to spread the word of handmade as far as I can. Possibly shout it from the rooftops. So if you're looking for something unique and special, visit the website at www.knitmesewme.com and thank you for listening.
I hope you'll give us a try because we love helping customers and we'd love to help you. Thanks.
