you can chop trough bamboo like an axe if youhave enough power but paper teaches you to slice and pull the blade trough the target . this ensures that the blade cuts trough clothes and doesnt get caught in clothes like it does if you just chop . edge alignment is important but pulling the blade is just as important when facing non naked enemies lol .

people that mock paper cutting are the people that swing the sword like a baseball bat full force and are happy because it cuts the tatami lol in battle those were the first to go
