I love how you give an example of the permutation formula before giving them the formula, so they build the intuition. Amazing teaching method.

After my dad's suggestion, I started watching your videos and now I understand the theory of what is being taught in my school with a deep insight. Thank you so much for such a quality teaching. That is not a permutation, but variation! In a permutation you have to use all the elements of the sample space! Which is why it is very useful to model symmetries with permutations. N!/(R1!*R2!*...*Rn!) is the permutation with repetition and N! is the permutation without variation! What you are talking about under permutation is actually variation!

6:27 - 6:31 - Why are you dividing it and not subtracting it? Could someone please explain?
@GabTheAdventurer6 жыл бұрын
A thing that always help me is imagination... So, try to think like this (at least it worked for me): 10! = 10x9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 6! = 6x5x4x3x2x1 So, if you write that as a fraction: 10x9x8x7x *6x5x4x3x2x1* ----------------------------------------- *6x5x4x3x2x1* When you look closely, you realize that the *bold* part repeats, and since it's all multiplications, you can cut them off... 10x9x8x7 *cut* ------------------------------------------ *cut* So, you end up with: 10x9x8x7 Exactly what Woo wrote in the board... Simple like that! Haha

If you want no repeats, isn't it 10 x 9 x 9 x 9? For the third digit, I just don't want to repeat the second. But I could pick the first and it wouldn't count as a "repeat".

Imagine if there are 5 ways to go to a place C from a place B(B-C = 5ways) and also I have 7 ways to go to place B from A (A-B= 7ways). Now in how many ways we can go from A to C ?........well the best approach is that if I go in just 1 way from A-B then I will have 5 ways to go to C hence there are 7ways to go from A-B, then I will have (in total) 5+5+5+5+5+5+5 ways which is 35 and that is why we do 5×7=35. Hope it helps!!!

Great teaching sir But I think the answer for permutations for 4 digit pin is 9 * 10*10*10 Because the first slot or the thousandth place has only 9 choices with zero excluded because if it starts with zero it will not be a 4 digit number Thank you for the teaching Helped a lot I had lost my intuitive understanding of some topics hadn't revised those parts for a long time From india
