Introduction to Power Map

In this lesson we'll learn how to use Power Map, Microsoft's new Excel add-in used to create 3D geospatial visualizations. During the product development cycle, Power Map was known by the name "GeoFlow". Its new name reflects its place in the suite of Microsoft's self-service BI tools, Power BI.
Power Map integrates with Power Pivot data models created in Excel, and leverages the Bing Maps service for visualization and geolocation.
In this video we'll create layers of data on a 3D mapping surface. By combining several layers into a single, interactive visualization, our visualizations help lead to insights not possible using conventional visualizations.
In the next video lesson, we'll take this visualization to the next level by adding an animated "tour" that walks information consumers through the story our data is telling.

I m looking to start with a map, and then convert to excel so that I can call locations that the map pulled up in a linear fashion.. can power maps do this??

Hi, i have a problem. I used Power map in excel for a some points but the map generated don't have a mapping (don't have streets, don't have rivers, nothing). Can you say me how i can view that?

I'm trying to figure out a map that is used for address-routes (that's not google maps, and can take multiple addresses). doesnt seem like this does that, any ideas?

My office laptop is internet disabled due to policy. If install Power Map feature in excel (obviously in my work laptop), can I still able to do geo mapping ? Thank you.

Hi all, I was after some help in getting my mapping organised for my business. I have no idea what I've downloaded. The mapping application I have is DYN52.tmp.xlsx Microsoft Power Mapping for Excel. It is very similar to the application on this video except I have a Launch Power Map button instead of Launch GeoFlow. Is there a difference? Id like the mapping application exactly how is it explained on this video because it seems very simple and is easy for me to understand. If there is a difference, how do I get this application running for me? If anyone is able to help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks,Petra

This is a useless piece of software not integrated into the larger Power family. It just has 'Power' in front of 'Map', that's it.
