IS 456: 2000 is Indian National Building code. National building codes have been formulated in different countries to provide guidelines for the design and construction of structures. The codes evolved from the collective wisdom of expert structural engineers, gained over the years. These codes are periodically revised to bring them in line with current research, and often, current trends. 456 represent here for Plain and Reinforced Cement Concrete and 2000 represent the revised year.
