Hi Adam, For the S&P 500 PE Ratio you show, the highest is in the mid of 2019 with value about 23, but as I check from other source, the PE Ratio highest was 123.73 in May 2009. Is the chart you show is correct?

The broker who lends you the shares to short, is the one who would lose money, if you closed a profitable short position. The investor who owns the shares does not necessarily lose any money unless he sells his shares at the same time, when the short seller closes his position.

@15:59 how can longs get 500%+ return. Only possible if buy low sell high. Since you are going long it would be only 300% right ( last uptrend ). During prior 2 ups and downs, you are losing whatever you are making.

the previous market peak is at around Oct 07 (S&P) and with regards to the PE ratio chart, PE is around 17 (which is not the highest PE). On the contrary, the PE ratio peaked at mid 2009 which shows that stocks are rather expensive but the market bottomed at mid 2009. Hence it does not shows that the highest PE the market is at the top. Or is it that the chart somewhat lags?

to add on when you mentioned in 30:38 that mid 2009 is market top, it is not. On the contrary, S&P bottomed around mid 2009

I shorted the VXX about a year ago and my broker called me the next day saying that the shares were hard to borrow and he had to close my position.
