This is a fascinating technology, created by the great Ed E Horton (HORTON Wison Deepwater inc), a perfect solution for deep waters production.

Eddie de Abreu Technip spar for Mad Dog 2, now Argos, was dropped when BP AND billiton found it would cost $22 billion! The MPSS replaced it and costs topped to $9billion! A record saving with more to come in operation and maintenance, just as we claimed in 1986 !

Obsolete since Mad Dog reached twenty two billion and was replaced by Langs MPSS, saving $13 billion!

Obsolete. BP cancelled Technip spar for Mad Dog 2 and selected Lang’s MPSS. This reduced costs from $22 billion to $9 billion. The semi is now building in Korea at a cost $1.3 billion! Langs MPSS for renewables is a fraction of that since it is a non hydrocarbon application, less hazardous!

Frank, today 2018, this is obsolete. The MPSS ring pontoon semi with SCrs (also our invention) and two million barrels storage as we, Seaways Engineering (UK ) Ltd, London, promoted in UK in 19888 is now dominant. At that time others had written off semis and turned to ship shapes and this very expensive creature. BP saved $13 billion by cancelling the Spar for Mad Dog 2 and adopting our ring pontoon semi. We were funded by Conoco and approved by Shell. More savings to come as they adopt lessons I learned on building three poorly designed semis in the 80s. See www.swaei.com.
