Introduction to T-type MGs on the MG Cars Channel -

Three MG models, the TC, TD and TF, established MG in North America. They were "post war" MGs while the TAs and TBs were pre-war models. All five T-types are a very important part of the MG history, especially in America.

The MG TF did not have the 1489cc A-series engine that came in the MGA. It was fitted with the rare 1466cc XPEG engine. Those are two completely different units.

True but the MGA had the B series engine, the A series of this era was the 948cc used in the Mark 1 Sprite

Where I lived, a lot were converted to Chevy V8s and they were screamers. America wanted fast and these were anything but fast.

Boy, the old guy describing T series cars in this video is so wrong. TF 1500 had XPEG engines, a larger displacement version of XPAG 1250 cc engine. MGA MK l 1500 had 1500 cc BMC B-series engine. XPEG and B-series are Completely different engines.

He drones on and on and on when all he really knows about is the TD. The TF only came into existence because of the deal between Leonard Lord and Donald Healey struck to produce his car. MGA and Healey 100-4 couldn't be released together so the MGA was delayed 2 years, built in '55 released in '56. It's a pretty poor video on one of the most important series of MG's. Need a better installment.

Hank Rippert (RIP) was a well respected member of the MG community. He did make a mistake about the XPEG engine being used in both the TF1500 and the MGA 1500, but that mistake doesn’t detract from his long-standing contributions to the hobby. Hank was a true Gentleman!

I have a 53 Mgtd Mark 2 midget thegearing was to low so I put a MG B rear end in it looking at the car u can’t tell it
