Pranam swamy.. all hindus agree on vedantic teachings as higher and the paramartha explored in Upanishads as the highest to be sought after.. but is it necessary to brush aside the ideas of butas and dead spirits etc as mere superstition .. are not these be considered even at the level of vyvahara satya?? We read in the life history of ramakrishna and vivekananda swamy also some incidents they seeing evil spirits and emancipating them .. is it mandatory to study Vedas from the limited prism of modern academics based on only objective analysis and colored glass historic perspective?? Shabda was considered by swamy vivekananda as achintya and can eternal aspect of shabda pramana be merely ruled out and consider only the parts liking to our modern half named intellect as greater and other just brushed aside ??Doing this are we contributing to demean the sraddha on Vedas and put shabda pramana below the others?? And varna is defined in nirukta as "vruneter varnaha " is choosing profession .. and Not as color.. are we playing into anti bharat and European hands???

@Amsuman G Your thoughts are quite valid. A lot of well learned scholars tend to consider and accept only the "Jnana" aspects of the Vedas while the Karma Kanda is more or less swept aside. As you said, this is of course driven by the need for validation of the Vedas by the Western world, more specifically by the science community. But being a student of modern science myself( a mathematician actually), I find this quite disturbing. The Karma Kanda and associated beliefs and rituals are a very powerful part of the Vedas. Of course if you stop at the Karma Kanda and do not make any attempt to understand the Jnana Kanda, then the whole thing does become meaningless. The Atharva Veda has been sidelined and misinterpreted and misanalysed mostly because a lot of the ideas in there is not acceptable by modern science. But it would be a mistake to sideline these aspects and classify them as superstitions.

I have one question why again and again you are mentioning it's superstitious, why not it's true?? It might not be relevant to now cause we are not able to depict it. And if it's superstitious then why are u explaining??

@@Mosquito805 well, the Advaita portion of the vedas also say that you and the divine are one. There seem to have been disputes between the gurus that wrote different sections of the Vedas :) no guru or scriptures are greater than your freedom.

@@Mosquito805 I have read very few of the vedas, so probably not the person to enter a debate, but I have liked reading the Rig Veda and using it to fuel my imagination. it's the responsibility of today's society to distinguish between the spiritual, social, and political aspects of the different Vedas (which were all written over a long span of time, so their social context changed). Like I said, the vedas were written by humans, and we're human, so their word is not greater than your (or my) freedom or thoughts.
