Did you know that the industrial revolution in Britain is referred to as the first industrial revolution, since that is where it happened first?
The British Industrial Revolution was a period of both innovative mechanisation and deep social change that has been generally agreed to have spanned from the mid-18th century to the mid-19th century, or more specifically, between 1760 and 1840 - but that's not to say that there weren’t any important or necessary developments before or after this general period.
The Industrial Revolution in Britain, also known as the First Industrial Revolution, wasn’t one single dramatic event, but instead, a gradual process of the mechanisation of industry as well as of agriculture that created long-lasting social change, such as the urbanisation of Britain, that then spread throughout France from 1830, Germany from 1850, and to the United States from 1865 in the Second Industrial Revolution.

Overall the 'pretty' looks apt towards industrial pros. She highlighted the 'twinkle twinkle' issues with Industrial revolution, which mean nothing to intellectuals.

Lots of great info here, is the Industrial Revolution/British Industrial Revolution an overall "good thing". Honestly I think that's a difficult one :P Maybe the best answer is like any good thing we can overuse it, or abuse it, or maybe take it for granted. Our current world does have a lot of issues that have been introduced by mechanisation, and then also by technology which is a natural evolution of the machinery. Our world is now more "regimented" than ever, very controlled, and in my opinion not entirely enjoyable.

In Britain from 1800 to 1900. 20,000 Waterwheels decreased in number. Windmills decreased in number. The Englishman Thomas Newcomen's 1,500 Atmospheric Pumps disappeared. The Scotsman James Watt's 500 Steam Engines and their descendants increased in number to 10,000,000 !!! So for every SINGLE Waterwheel in 1800, there were now 500 Steam Engines in 1900 !!! The availability of Power for the whole country increased by 500 times !!! That's what you call an Industrial Revolution. It was a POWER REVOLUTION, brought about by James Watt's Invention of the world's first PRACTICAL Steam Powered Engine. This WAS the Industrial Revolution! And it only needed one single Invention, James Watt's Steam Engine! All those other Inventions and so-called " Industrial Revolutions " , Agriculture, Population, Textiles, Spinning and Weaving were just advancement of Science and Technology that's been ongoing since we started playing with fire.

One of the really negative aspects of the Industrial Revolution is that technological change happened much faster than the human mind's ability to adjust to it. Also, people mindlessly began destroying the environment. However, people were quite pleased during this period with more consumer goods and labor-saving machines. It all has a dark underside, though.

If we can use our technology to survive climate change, nuclear, AI, and/or other random natural disasters, then maybe. There is an argument to be made that modern society uniquely lacks the basic skills we would need to survive any of the potential disasters that face us. Skills that peaked just before the mechanization of the world.

The negative aspects of the industrial revolution far outweigh the positives. Gone from most was the holistic mindset connection with nature that sought a balance between the rational and the intuitive. The conventional mindset greatly changed into the polarised, mechanistic, linear based programming that excludes so much. Intuitive thought looked down upon in replace of this linear based, reductionist, mechanistic mindset that has evolved within conventional society to this day.
