You are so sweet. I hope your cataract surgery went well. I'm just now learning about Wedgwood so thank you for your pearls of wisdom. I look forward to more of your videos.

1878, slipware. A early form of Jasperware, Cobalt Blue color with cream embossed over lays and it a sugar bowl for the matching tea set, Historically Sugar bowls unless sometime in more modern designs are covered to keep bugs out and sugar was a high valued Item. In Tea sets with bowl with no lid in early services were often a waste bowl. More modern use for that bowl is now for lemon pieces. But back then was used for tea trash. Goddess Goddess with the Cupid is Venus, and can't quit see the others on that side, other side blowing horn might be Fortuna, offering fruit is Pomona, Sitting Vesta. Your second 2nd piece were always referred to as trinket boxes also cobalt blue slipware jasperware so earlier then 20th century. Rose garland frame the winged horse is Pegasus, the 3 goddesses Athena, Minerva, and Diana possible 1866. With a Sunburst pattern on the sides (Represents Life). Glazed or unglazed both because of the double firings are water tight. There just different finishes. Standard Wedgwood blue they call Lavender and white is cream. 3rd piece would be 20th century Jasper 5" glazed interior bowl in Lavender and cream. To clean use a tooth brush and soap with bleach should take off all the dirt and grime, was with water and hand dry. 20th Century pieces most can go into dish washer according to Wedgwood company ad slicks at the time!!! The Cobalt pieces are more valuable, however if you want the most money for the piece only sell when value is high, currently low for most Antiques!!!

There is a video on how to clean Jasper ware here on KZbin. I'd say the piece is, indeed, a sugar bowl intended for its huge American market. The factory is still located in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. They have tours.

I agree that it is probably a sugar bowl. It being so large is one reason I wasn't sure what it was.

I think the damage to the lid was done by a spoon that was put in it because it was probably used as a Sugar Bowl. So the spoon was left in there and the lid was put on and chipped the lid...

Always be careful when cleaning Wedgwood Jasperware. The 1950s onward pieces are a little more robust… and there are videos of people cleaning this vintage pieces. Never pop in the dishwasher. Just use warm (not boiling) water and a super soft toothbrush. Move over the surface very lightly indeed. I also use a degreaser spray that lifts out the stubborn stains and ingrained dirt. Nearly everything will come up gleaming and as if new. Go really lightly and carefully on antique pieces - you can accidentally knock off a piece of the bas-relief and your heart will break.

Pieces that say Made in England are not true antiques. The older pieces don't have this.

Please don't ever put a piece of Wedgewood through the dishwasher!!! There is grit and dishwashing soap to help get rid of stuck on food and it would scratch the surface of that piece of porcelain something like mild Murphy's Oil Soap might work but I'm not an expert and I would do a Google search on finding out what would clean it up. But I think Murphy's Oil Soap was one of the things mentioned on cleaning Wedgewood

It's a chamber pot.
@kathleenmurphy23793 жыл бұрын
That sure is small for a chamber pot and I don't think Wedgwood made anything like that

@@kathleenmurphy2379 yeah it's not a chamber pot

You're right. Just the right kind of refined and elegant vessel for the upper class to take a dignified dump into.
