Kick while losses is not an uncommon phenomenon, it does happen. It happened to me when I was drilling in a fault zone, the lower section of Arab C was flowing and Arab B was losing mud, we tried many options to control losses and remove the kick, Eventually we cemented the whole section and side tracked. I remember when I was drilling in Libya I had the same scenario where KMW was 14.2 and MAMW was 14.2+ ppg, we killed the well eventually after many many tries ( took almost 1 month to stabilize).
